YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
Technically the place has most of what you need. But it’s very average quality in all areas.
Having booked a private twin room it would have been nice to have at least a kettle. But you see, the place is riddled with rule charts and limitations. Before even entering, under the door number it states ‘no food, no drinks, no smoking’. When you pay the price they set, it’d be nice to have the freedom to eat in your room. Being an adult this is condensending beyond belief. Following on from that, you have a “dos and don’ts” by the window reminding you not to “throw things out the window” but to instead “practise meditation”. The ‘totally like chill vibe ‘ that’s obviously held core at reception is absent in the rooms. Even the shampoo bottle tells you to turn the water off while you use it in the shower. Typical of a business that tries too hard to be something other than primarily caring for their customers.
It is obnoxious in a way that it must have taken a high level of creativity to arrive at.
Bathroom is essentially a closet with a shower. Water takes 5 minutes to get hot if you’d even call it hot. Heating wasnt a free choice. Blankets are paper thin. Mattresses slide off the frame so sitting up in bed isn’t comfortable. Noise can be an issue, walls appear paper thin.
The location is decent and hygiene was adequate. But once again, pair that with the price and it really leaves you no other choice but to consider elsewhere.
Clean hostel, very social and easy to meet people, staff is polite, room was nice and big enough.
Had a great time here. There is so much available on site from salon, business area, bar and food. I got to meet several, really cool people. My breakfast was great.
The room was clean and secure. Every staff person I interacted with was very friendly and helpful.
Locker can fit a large backpack and a few things tucked around it. Cabin bag/carryon, I had to slip under the bed. 1€ towel was available when I was there. Open WiFi access. It was winter and the room was comfortably warm. There was one bathroom in the room (sink, toilet, shower), shared by up to 6, but a sink was available outside of the bathroom as well.
Had a great stay at the hostel exceeded all my expectations and would happily return when in Rome again
I stayed for two nights. It was very good. No complaints. free drinks and free pasta added to the value. Staffs were also amazing. Rooms and bathrooms were both tidy and clean.
Amazing staff and facilities, perks. Great cleanliness for a hostel, stylish interior and overall very good value!
Good position, clean hostel.
The hostel was amazing!
Tons of activities to do, affordable drinks and food, amazing people willing to interact with you.
I had a blast
Great place, safe, full of colour, confortable and cheap bar 🙂
I recommand going on the rooftop, it is everything :))
The hostel itself is fresh, clean and has all the facilities you could want and/or expect when it comes to having that european hostel experience.
My highlights are:
1. The short walk from the tram station (although the hostel is not central it is not remote)
2. The incorporated rooftop terrace, bar and kitchen with reasonable prices for bare sustenance and convenience
3. The daily room cleans and towel changes (private dorms)
The only fall back for us personally was the heavy, deafening bass on Friday and Saturday nights emanating from the club below us. Although the existence of the club is well publicised and the website even mentions requesting earplugs, i did not expect for the private 2 person dorm to be the room directly above the club. My suggestion would be that the large dorms be situated close to the club as they are the more likely to use it.
9/10
It was my first time staying in a hostel and i was so hesitant at first but then I loved my experience a lot! Everything was amazing from the activities, food, and ambiance. We had a different activity each day. Reception was open 24h and it felt like a safe environment
overall great experience
Our stay in Yellowsquare marked the end of our long trip. Before our stay, we were all ready to go home and our stay in our previous accomodation certainly did not help our experience. Yellowsquare felt like a “gift from god”. The room was affordable, clean, organised, and everything fell in place, the staff was friendly and efficient, the lobby and shared space was inviting, and the luggage room was convenient to say the least. If we ever Milan or Rome, we will definitely be staying at your accomodation. Thank you for hostpitality 😀
It was my second time at Yellow Square. Everything was great, staff cleanness, bed, bathroom. Loved it. Would stay again for sure
There is more need for cleaning at the rooms, the staff is the best about it, but the lack of clean sheets and towels is something that should be a must.
A very social atmosphere, conveniently located with friendly staff. The amenities were well maintained and clean. The common area had plenty of boardgames to break the ice with other travellers. Overall, a great stay and would not hesitate to return.
Nice and good service
I enjoyed the location and vibrant energy of the hostel. Great for solo travelers and groups.
I liked a lot the hostel, it had everything my friends and I needed. We felt comfortable and had fun.
This is much more like a hotel than hostel, with a communal room that people tend to work/study in rather than be social in. The nights organised often fell a bit flat. Staff were lovely, place was super super clean, and in a great location. My mates and I had a 4 room private but it was so small we couldn’t all stand up at the same time or we couldn’t move around, each bed had a power socket but in 2 of the beds they didn’t work.
Overall, everything was good (special thanks for the co-working space!) but there is some room for improvement:
– the bathroom door in the dorm was hard to close – it’d be a good idea to change the locker type
– the bathroom itself wasn’t in the best condition with its broken hangers and quite old renovation in general
– sleeping on the bad next to the door and the bathroom is quite annoying – maybe think about moving beds?
– WIFI didn’t work properly everywhere
– No duvet cover but only a bedsheet so you can’t tuck the blanket into it which is absolutely inconvenient
I have only good things to say. The rooms were cleaned every day. Everything was very well run. 9/10 only because there weren’t curtains on the bunks, but they would give you a sheet to use. Excellent customer service.
I think its much better than others similar places.
I was in a spacious 4 bed female room and it was super quiet and clean. Staff were super helpful and having the restaurant over the road was really convenient. Also was able to walk comfortably from termini
Yellowsquare was very clean, everyone was friendly and they do a lot to foster community. each room has a full bathroom to share which is a nice alternative to dorm-style showers.
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean, met nice roommates. Most of all, it was safe.
The location is great and I like the big locker and safe box in the room. One thing that bothered me was the unstable wifi that kept disconnecting.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Very affordable with free breakfast and diner!
All staff were very helpful and there was always someone around to help. Everyone always had a smile on their face which meant that everyone felt very approachable. Lovely service! The general atmosphere was welcoming and safe. There were activities you could join if you felt like it but were also able to have a quiet night if that was what you wanted. The free pasta for dinner and drink voucher was also very generous and much appreciated. Obviously, this is not easy to implement but possibly having more than 2 of each, a dryer and washing machine, could better help the experience of visitors. Again we understand the reasons for light bedding and thin pillows however in winter when you are not able to turn up the heat it would be nice to be offered an extra blanket. A range of ages were visiting, even some families with kids. This was nice to see a lot of different people enjoying the space. There was also the opportunity to join activities in the night if you wanted to experience a bit more of a party atmosphere. Being right near the tram and very close to the train station made our stay even easier to visit Florence.
the staff was really friendly, the room was clean and tidy, and everything went well.
my only remark is that the towels should be changed more often.
It was clean and the staff were very kind
Clean hostel and friendly staff.
I recommand.
The hostel experience was amazing! The staff was very kind and supportive.
The rooms very clean and comfy
I loved it. The staff was so lovely and helpful. Rooms were clean & I met lovely people.
Super good place. It is great for cooking also with a lot of free food. Nice chill bar/outdoor area. Very very clean and safe.
