YellowSquare Reviews: Athens
In the center of Athens, YellowSquare offers female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms. To get work done, our Wowork coworking space provides a quiet space and dedicated areas for video calls. Zero Bar is our spot for breakfast, drinks, and constant social activities, while Aura Rooftop Bar is the place to watch the sunset and grab a drink with other travelers. It offers a 360-view of the city and the Acropolis skyline, making it a great open-air lively space. Guests also have access to the SoulGood workout space, like a simple gym and can join free dance lessons to stay active and meet people.
Beautiful place in the heart of the living city of Athens.
Rich of details it offers air conditioned rooms, comfortable mattresses and clean toilets.
The best comes with the beautiful rooftop where you can enjoy memorable sunsets.
Breakfast was cheap but tasty and filling.
The staff was the best.
I stayed at this hostel because I wanted the community, but had my own private room. My room wasn’t as clean as I would have liked it to be, the shower looked like it wasn’t even cleaned with hair on the walls and gunk on the floor. It was also very hard to sleep due to the noises of the hall door, slamming, and the people partying on the roof—but it is a Hostel so that’s to be expected, I just hoped my room was quieter.
Good vibes, good breakfast, clean room, good location.
just a note: there was some hair on bathtub walls left from previos stays. Everything else was perfect.
Love this place
Amazing hostel. Clean, staff are so friendly and efficient, great rooftop bar + view. Not a single complaint! And incredible price
Great location, walking distance to everything. Great value for money, friendly staff.
Clean, comfortable beds, lots to do, friendly staff, awesome roof top bar and amenities.
Maybe if they would offer some tours additionally that would be great.
Being an intern with YellowSquare was beyond exceptional. Every moment was enjoyable, and every member of the staff made me feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. The offer itself (room, two meals a day, half-off drinks) was incredible compared to other experiences, and not only ensured my interest and enthusiasm in continuing, but also showed me that YellowSquare values its interns more than any other hostel where I’ve volunteered over the past two years. Further, I knew that if I needed a day off, it would be granted. If I had an idea, it would be heard. If I had a concern, it would be validated. Words cannot express how greatly I valued this experience, or how excited I am at the possibility of working with YellowSquare againn.
Best hostel experience I could ever ask for. Incredibly social and amazing night life if you go to the rooftop bar which was always busy and the free drink was a lovely treat. Rooms were clean and exactly what you need. Thank you
it was good , wish they changed floor mats daily and tidy bed daily
Stepping in, I didn’t have a great first impression because I had to make reservations online and the person in front was a little cold about it, but once I got to know the people there and understand they were doing their job then I had a great time. I made a friend there one morning and we spent the day in the city, then in the evening I went to the rooftop to get my free drink and watch the sunset. I loved making bracelets one night and I like the activities you all have.
I loved every second of my stay in the hostel. I’m used to the yellow square hostels but this one, ladies and gent and whatever you call yourself, WONDERFUL !
The 4 bed female dormitory with private bathroom was super clean, the linen was already on the bed, super comfy mattress and AC working perfectly.
Breakfast was grand, as a vegan I truly appreciate the effort and they even have an option for dinner at the rooftop.
The commun areas made my stay, I’ve never been able to meet so many people and I would say it’s thanks to this. Big kitchen, chill area with sofa, nice cozy different spot at the reception and the ROOFTOP. Tell me how many hostels have a rooftop with a view on the acropolis ?!
PERFECT STAFF ! Helpful, joyful, funny, professional, good advice and recommandations. Big thanks to Agusto for doing such an amazing job managing this place and to Juniper and Dakota for making my stay so bright.
I’ll be back for sure and I recommend 100% this hostel to anyone who’s in search for good vibes only and for all my solo girlies who want to be safe.
I really enjoyed the hostel, it was very clean and the rooftop bar was a great environment to meet other people.
we spent one night and our stay was very good! Camilla was amazing, she helped us a lot
Good facilities, good prices, overall good vibes
Very cool space and people
The hotel is close to important areas and events, just minutes away, and is suitable for young people and couples for short stays. The rooms are quiet, especially on the lower floors, away from the rooftop where there is music at night. The front desk staff are very helpful and communicate with a high level of cooperation, especially the Italian woman, Camilla. Therefore, I recommend visiting it.
Highly recommend. Needed a place to stay after a quick change of plans and yellowsquare was fantastic. Super clean, friendly people. I splurged and got myself a private room and it essentially felt like a hotel experience for half the price. Also had a balcony was a view of the Acropolis!
We were staying in the Hostel for six days, with the access to the community kitchen it was easy to store food, we loved the activities that were organised and with the welcome bonus for the rooftop there was a nice spot to meet new people. The Hostel offered everything needed to have a pleasant stay, with a workout room, chill room, rooftopbar etc.
Very good location , nice crew, clean place , cool rooftop, really nice place to stay in Athens, I am very satisfied
Helpful staff, clean spacious room.
I only spent one night. The room was clean and fresh smelling. The staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay again.
It was good place to meet other travelers and have fun
Location is perfect
Staff is amazing
Breakfast is very delicious
Excellent value
I had a really good time there. It is close to a lot of places, I felt safe all the time.
My stay did not start in the most pleasant way. Despite requesting a room with a balcony and a view, I was initially accommodated in a room that had neither. I later learned that, due to high occupancy, it was the last available room. While I understand that situations like this can happen, it would have been appreciated if this had been communicated in advance, especially since the rate I paid did not correspond to what I received upon arrival.
I expressed my disappointment to August, the manager on duty, and he immediately did his best to address the situation. His professionalism and willingness to help were greatly appreciated. The following day, Melpomeni, who was assisting guests outside the reception area, arranged an upgrade for me, as August had already reserved a suitable room for the next day.
What started as a disappointing experience ultimately turned into a very positive one thanks to the efforts of these two employees. Their dedication to guest satisfaction, responsiveness, and genuine care completely changed my impression of the stay. I am grateful for their assistance and would like to thank both August and Melpomeni for going the extra mile to make things right.
This version acknowledges the problem while giving deserved credit to the staff who resolved it, which tends to come across as fair and credible in hotel reviews.
Soical, clean, curtains, friendly staff, affordable, location was perfect and as a bonus the rooftop offered the best view ever!
I liked everything! It was a great experience for my first solo travel. I stayed in 4 bed female dorm. It was wide and clean. So glad for the curtains in bed and bidet in the toilet.
Had a great time at Yellowsquare. Was there for two nights before taking off on a cruise. The room was comfortable, no frills, but we didn’t need all that. Just needed a comfortable bed and great shower. Rooftop bar was amazing and so fun with an an awesome evening view of the Acropolis! The food was good, loved the Greek salad and their pizza. Staff was very kind and sweet. We did order breakfast every morning and it was fantastic as well.
The AC in the room was so noisy I could not sleep most of the time.
AC was broken. Room was very humid and had a poor smell coming from the bathroom with no circulation in the room.
I liked the hostel but I returned home sick. I Asked the reception to change the AC temperature because i was freezing (was 18c the whole stay), there was no remote so I was told it would be fixed by morning which didn’t happen. I caught a cold after that.
Enjoyed my stay at yellowsquare during my time in Athens, location is great and the staff are super friendly! Only downsides were the construction works going on right outside, and there was no duvet upon check-in which took a couple of days to get sorted
YellowSquare was so accommodating, fun, and super welcoming!
I’ll remember my stay at Yellowsquare as one of the most unforgettable travel experiences I’ve had so far. The hostel really stands out for its rooftop view, its colorful range of activities and services and the inspiring community you can meet from all over the world. Highly recommended!
My first stay in YellowSquare. I’m female and stayed in the 6 person mixed dorm. Definitely recommend getting the attached bathroom access. The beds were very sturdy and private – I’m 6’4 and fit comfortably. My suite mates were so fun and we enjoyed the rooftop sunsets and activities offered. It really made my stay that much better. Thank you YS!
The hostel was great, and very welcoming with a great social atmosphere to meet other travelers and have a great view of the Parthenon and breakfast selection. The rooms had a curtain on the bed and a safe, so was a great welcoming place!
Overall, Yellowsquare is a good hostel. Clean, nice bathrooms, really good rooftops with view of Acropolis. There are some events happening on the rooftop, such as DJs playing and so forth – but as a solo traveller I lacked some more activities or attempts to bring people together. I ended up sitting much alone, would be great if the hostel organised a pub crawl or something similar.
I was upgraded from an 8-bedroom to a 4, the room was nice, with a little terrace, lockers and a private bathroom.
The rooftop was amazing, the view too, and the events were pretty cool.
Only negative thing is that they didn’t give me an blanket when I asked for it, even though my roomates had one. I was very cold and got sick because I only had a think sheet.
