A fantastic hostel for anyone travelling. Social scene is great with the rooftop bar and activity each night. If you want to chill, that is fine. Decent breakfast. Each bed has its own safe and an area to put some belongings which I find helpful. One bathroom per room is brilliant. Overall very good

First of all, the hostel itself was great. They offer luggage storage, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and they even upgraded my room, which I really appreciated. The rooftop also has a beautiful view of the Acropolis at night — absolutely gorgeous.

However, unfortunately, I had a really unpleasant experience during the night. One of the roommates seemed to have brought someone into the dorm. They were talking very loudly on the balcony in the middle of the night, apparently thinking that nobody inside could hear them. Talking loudly was already disturbing enough, but then they started having sex and making a lot of noise. It was already past 3 a.m., yet they continued without any consideration for the other guests who were trying to sleep. They even came back into the dorm and continued there.
Honestly, I found this extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate. If you want to do something private, please book a private room instead of doing it in a shared dorm and disturbing everyone else.

Very clean and affordable hostel with loads of social space. Kitchen could really do with a few more bits (there were very few spoons, no bowls etc and some smelly moldy food left).

i stayed 5 days and i liked the hostel very much. The rooftop, staff, cleaning and the environment were amazing

The staff received me well, place had all amenities you could think of. The rooftop was nice and they even give you a welcome drink when you check in.

At the Roof Tab Bar, there was a curly-haired girl wearing glasses who was running the games. Her attitude was completely inappropriate. While I was talking to another guest, she told me to get up and said, “This place is reserved.” The person I was talking to was also a guest there. She should learn that it is not acceptable to treat people this way.

Also, despite being entitled to a discount, a man wearing glasses and a goatee sold me a drink at the full price without applying my discount. Later, another girl serving me pointed out that I had a discount and gave me the beer at the discounted price.

I also believe the same man either does not know which glass an Aperol should be served in, or he needs some additional training.

Overall, I found the attitude of some of the staff to be quite unprofessional and unpleasant. However, I would like to point out that the other staff members I interacted with, especially Augusto, the short-haired girl, and the blonde guy who saw me off, were very friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

After all these negative experiences, even though I had originally reserved and paid for four days, I decided to leave one day earlier. This was not a decision I made lightly, but the overall experience made me feel that I would rather leave than stay for the full four days.

Had a great stay at Yellow Square in Athens! The location is absolutely perfect, right in the city center and within easy walking distance of all the main spots and attractions. The rooms were great, clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.

The highlight has to be the amazing rooftop bar, with incredible views of the Acropolis—especially beautiful in the evening. 🍹🏛️

Overall, a fantastic hostel with a great atmosphere, excellent location, and wonderful staff. Highly recommended if you’re staying in Athens!

It’s a big hostel in a big city… so if you’re looking for a place in the midst of the hustle, with and surrounded by nightlife, and also walkable to major tourist sites, this is the place.

Really comfortable setting. Safe and reliable people at the front desk!

The hostel is very creative, clean and well organized.
The rooftop offer a breath taking view.

My stay at yellow square was amazing, the 4 people room was cozy and the curtains provided enough privacy. Having the bathroom and shower in the room was a big plus. What I loved the most was the rooftop with an amazing view of the acropolis and stunning sunset. It is also a perfect hostel to do remote work. It was also very close to main attractions and cool neighborhoods. Staff very kind and helpful. The only downsides are that the area did not feel 100% safe for a solo female traveler and the hostel can be noisy especially on the weekends.

Nice stay, good bed, clean enough rooms, kind staff except for one mean remark at the bar.

I had an incredible time meeting other travelers as well as staff. The rooms and bathrooms were always so clean. The lobby cafe was incredible and such a great space. The rooftop bar was my favorite part and I would definitely return to this hostel! I made many special memories at this place and I am grateful to all the stuff for their kindness and hospitality.

Nicest hostel I have ever stayed at. Clean, genuinely super comfy and pleasant rooms. We stayed in a four person room and there was so much privacy despite it and we slept like angels. Amazing views from the rooftop bar and the gym room was a major plus. Would stay there again if I were in Athens – would prefer it to a hotel or private airbnb tbh. The kitchen is the only minor problem but it is the guest’s fault rather than a YellowSquare issue. People are animals the second they think someone else is coming to clean up after them. Relatively well-stocked and spacious though.

The hostel was nice and clean. Our room, one of the private rooms in the hostel was more than expected. The location was central and close to the metro station. But the best thing was the staff.

One negative thing is the bathroom floor is wet

The hostel was of a good standard and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom in my dorm was abit of a mess but I used the communal one on our corridor instead so there was no issues. The beds were very comfy and the AC in the dorm room was very welcomed in the August heat!

I loved my stay at Yellowsquare. Everything was great, and the rooftop bar was amazing.

We did not use any other amenities or activities offered by the hostel… just the private room for sleeping. At arrival, the neighborhood looked a little intimidating but when getting used to it it felt safe even late at night.

I really enjoyed the rooftop bar. It was social, good service and the drinks are reasonably priced. The beds are comfortable.

I had an amazing stay here and would absolutely come back! The hostel was clean, the air conditioning worked great (a lifesaver in the Athens heat), and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming.

The rooftop bar was definitely the highlight—it has an incredible view of the Acropolis, especially at sunset, and the service was excellent.

A special shoutout to Mo, who went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. He was friendly, helpful, and really added to the overall experience.

The location is also fantastic—only about a 10-minute walk to Plaka, making it easy to explore Athens on foot.

Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. 10/10, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Athens!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy, loved the outdoor balconies. Kitchen was decent but was nowhere near enough fridge space, spoons or bowls

5 nights at yellow square Athens for a wedding. What a fantastic stay. Staff at thr hostel so friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. Beautiful clean room with shower and excellent air-conditioning. Above all the rooftop bar with stunning views and a great atmosphere. Excellent variety of breakfasts served. Love this place and am heartily recommending to friends and family

Bathroom was not cleaned while we were staying there. We were in the room the whole day and the bathroom was disgusting and smelt like a public bathroom. Also had a guy in my room bring in a girl not staying in our room/hostel all together and when I told staff they didn’t do anything about it.

Loved the atmosphere, room and the rooftop bar and the activities were awesome! Would love to stay again. Staff weren’t the friendliest but still nice

Beautiful place in the heart of the living city of Athens.
Rich of details it offers air conditioned rooms, comfortable mattresses and clean toilets.
The best comes with the beautiful rooftop where you can enjoy memorable sunsets.
Breakfast was cheap but tasty and filling.
The staff was the best.

I stayed at this hostel because I wanted the community, but had my own private room. My room wasn’t as clean as I would have liked it to be, the shower looked like it wasn’t even cleaned with hair on the walls and gunk on the floor. It was also very hard to sleep due to the noises of the hall door, slamming, and the people partying on the roof—but it is a Hostel so that’s to be expected, I just hoped my room was quieter.

Good vibes, good breakfast, clean room, good location.

just a note: there was some hair on bathtub walls left from previos stays. Everything else was perfect.

Being an intern with YellowSquare was beyond exceptional. Every moment was enjoyable, and every member of the staff made me feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. The offer itself (room, two meals a day, half-off drinks) was incredible compared to other experiences, and not only ensured my interest and enthusiasm in continuing, but also showed me that YellowSquare values its interns more than any other hostel where I’ve volunteered over the past two years. Further, I knew that if I needed a day off, it would be granted. If I had an idea, it would be heard. If I had a concern, it would be validated. Words cannot express how greatly I valued this experience, or how excited I am at the possibility of working with YellowSquare againn.

Best hostel experience I could ever ask for. Incredibly social and amazing night life if you go to the rooftop bar which was always busy and the free drink was a lovely treat. Rooms were clean and exactly what you need. Thank you

it was good , wish they changed floor mats daily and tidy bed daily
