YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
Probably the best hostel experience I’ve ever had. 🙌🏼 Very good, clean facilities, super attentive and helpful staff, and the rooftop bar on the top floor is undoubtedly the best place in the building, in my opinion. Perfect view of the Acropolis. The only thing that isn’t so perfect is the location, in a slightly dangerous area that, especially at night and for women, can seem a little “dangerous,” but I think that’s just another aspect of the city of contrasts that is Athens. Highly recommended!
The hostel was fine in terms of cleanliness, facilities, and customer service. I arrived quite late and the bar area was busy, but I was greeted and checked in immediately. I shared a dorm with 3 other women and the room was very clean and so was the bathroom, and shampoo, towels, handwashing, and a hairdryer etc. were all available. There was a lack of secure storage in the room, but there is secure storage in the basement which I used when exploring the city. Great location too.
I thought the staff were super accommodating and nice, and the bar/cafe downstairs has pretty good prices. i wished there was more common spaces indoors, but the kitchen was super great and well-equipped! the rooms are pretty small but shower and bathroom is good and clean. My only complaint would be that the duvet is the thickness of a paper towel, and so I was so cold at night.
Very nice hostel with good amenities. Nice staff, good program options every day. Love the rooftop!
Not the safest area of Athens but good location in order to reach the center by foot and discover Athens walking. Metro and bus and a big supermarket are also close by.
Check-in was a pain, unable to book a bed in person, I needed to go via the website which was glitching. The dorm room I was assigned was full, so I had to go back to recpetion to switch rooms. Facilities were adequate, but bathrooms starting to be dated with mould/grime. Everything advertised about YellowSquare has the vibe of fun and personal, and does not translate to the feeling of staying there. The rooftop view was stunning. This place is perfectly adequate for a short stay.
The hostal is very cool and always found everything impecable. I had an issue since some other guests took the bed is was meant for me, staff couldn’t help a lot but were happy to reacomodate me and offer me a free drink in compensation. Even though not all staff were helpful or even nice, there were a couple of them that always treated us with a smile
Checked in into my room only to find the shelf I was assigned (corresponding to my bed number) was already taken and was locked. So I thought somone must have messed up which happens in Hostels all the time so I kept my luggage into the only closet that was available thinking rest three must have already checked in and taken the sheves. Now the person who was assigned the bed that had my shelf number checked in and not finding his shelf empty must have asked the reception to break my lock. They broke my lock and conveniently took my luggage downstairs without leaving a note and the morning I was checking out, was left frantically looking for my luggage. Apparently somone had taken two shelf spaces. Understand that shelf was needed by the person who was assigned the corresponding bed but they could have been “mindful enough to leave a note”
It is the best hostel I have ever been, because It has everything, form coworking place and roofbar, breakfast, reception is open 24 hours, you can rent a towel, they thought every detail for digital nomads.
so friendly, so social, such cool vibes. loved it
Yellow square was amazing , I did my first ever solo trip and decided to stay in yellow square . After a long day of exploring it was so comfortable to come in , have a chat with people around the world , board games , dinner etc. I was worried about hostel stays before my travel but yellow square made it a memory . I will definitely come back
Hostel is very well organized with a nice bar and restaurant.
Overall a great experience just the wifi was not working properly. It kept logging me off
The facilities were good, not great. For example the bathroom was very tiny with no mirror. The noise from outside (bar downstairs) was extremely loud every night, they offer ear plugs but I’m surprised this is allowed in this neighborhood where people live in the same building and next door. The location was ok, close the Termini station but far from just about everything else so I spent a lot of time taking the bus and metro everywhere.
Everything was really nice
Really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The price is decent, you get one free drink at the bar and there is free food (cereals/oil/salt and cooked pasta in the evening). Everything was clean and modern. They offer events each day, so it’s easy to get in contact with other people staying at the hostel
By far the best showering and toilet facilities in the room of any hostel I’ve visited. The rooftop bar had incredible views. The bed was comfy and there are lockers and safes in the rooms.
We really enjoyed staying here. The beds were comfortable, the shower was refreshing after a long day of travel, and we especially loved the free drink on arrival at the rooftop bar, with a spectacular view of the acropolis! Not to mention the groove vibe and convenient location. We also loved how eco friendly it all was. Would definitely stay here again 🙂
This is my second time here and it has been just as great as I remembered. The staff are super friendly! The rooms are spacious and clean, they give you sheets and duvets, and the lockers are large.
The fact that they have a bar and breakfast for so little money is another bonus. But without a doubt, the best thing is the staff. Thanks, guys!
I was struggling to find accomodation for the night in Rome. Someone suggested YellowSquare. The lady on the desk said it was a party hostel. I did not mind though at 68 I am past partying. There were no problems at all. Great stay.
The hostel is large and well equipped and well thought out.
Bathrooms are great
The bedroom are great too
Great Atmosphere, amazing for solo travelers. Everything you need is there – social life, events are wonderfully organized. I can fully recommend!
Very nice atmosphere and good vibes, very good location, clean, and spacious room.
Great place, good location and handy to Termini.
The hostel in Athens almost feels like a hotel. Very new and clean, the beds are so comfortable. And the rooftop, the vibes and the view are just amazing. The rooms even have big balconies. You get a free welcome drink and afterwards a discount on everything else you order. You can also leave your luggage after checking out so thats great as well. The only thing – in room 502 the positioning of the lockers is a bit awkward. There’s three beds right next to two lockers and you always have to wait for each other to finish taking their stuff out before you can access it. It’s be better if the room had two bunks and lockers in the middle but it is what it is. Still an incredible place to stay and I’d book it again.
The cleanest and friendliest hostel I have stayed at. There is plenty of space with lockers for valuables, separate from the regular ones. They have curtains which give you privacy in your bed. Clearly a lot of money was invested into new and solid furniture and amenities. The staff hired by the hostel clearly work hard and make sure that everyone gets a pleasant experience.
I think I realized I’m just too old for these type of party hostels. It was hard to find any quiet spaces. Room was noisy, common areas were loud and crowded. It was difficult to get sleep at night because of people coming back from parties and people sleeping through alarms. Its nothing on the hostel. Maybe on check in explaining how the workspace area worked or recomending local places wouldve been helpful. Staff were great, I just think Im not the demographic for a party hostel.
All services excellent
Lovely people, clean rooms, lot of activites, nice shared spaces.
There is such a vibe in this hostel.
From the people working there, they make you join the groups and make friends.
Receptionist are friendly, and there is always someone in there which is good.
The rooms are ok, it’s well located and it’s clean.
Will book again in other country it’s sad they don’t have it everywhere.
Awful location, but for me it’s worth it cause I prefer the pool and sunbathing over sight seeing. However there’s another hostel closer to city with a pool I went in for a view and it is just as good I think
We stayed in a 4 bed female dorm, which was clean and quiet. Good location, walking distance from many sites and close to metro stop to get directly to the airport and ferry port. Amazing view from rooftop bar and frequent social events. Shared kitchen has a lot of space and appliances.
Good location close to main square, great hostel, one of the best I’ve stayed in
It was amazing. The only thing that I would prefer would be staying in a different floor. I’m an early sleeper and stayed in the bedroom near the recietion.
This was my second stay at a YellowSquare property, and while my first experience in Florence was excellent, my recent visit to the Rome location was absolutely infuriating beyond words.
I contacted the administration two weeks before my arrival to request a lower bunk, which they confirmed. Yet, when I arrived on Friday, September 19, at around 2:20 a.m., I was livid to find that another guest had taken my assigned bed. The night receptionist had the audacity to instruct me to use an upper bunk instead, which, to my utter frustration, initially lacked a pillow. This oversight was completely unacceptable and a blatant failure of basic hospitality.
The following day, I was moved to a different room (G2584, if I recall correctly), which seemed promising at first. However, that night turned into an absolute nightmare. I was in lower bed 4, and the guests in the adjacent upper bed (across from bed 3) engaged in sexual activity. This blatant violation of hostel rules made it impossible for me to sleep. When I reported the incident, I was absolutely furious to hear that action would only be taken if it happened again. Management should have cracked down on this outrageous behavior immediately, issuing a strong warning or sanction to those guests.
While I do acknowledge the staff’s quick resolution of the bed mix-up, their complete failure to take decisive action against this serious rules violation left me beyond dissatisfied. Being asked to “give it another chance” is not only dismissive
Very nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Amazing rooftop. Very chill atmosphere
Is perfectly located near the city center, I could arrived directly from the airport with the metro and when I arrived I felt so welcomed by everyone, the reception and the bar team are amazing and the terrace with all the events is just perfect after a day out in the town. Very social but also very quiet in the rooms, would recommend to anyone honestly.
