YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
This is my second time here and it has been just as great as I remembered. The staff are super friendly! The rooms are spacious and clean, they give you sheets and duvets, and the lockers are large.
The fact that they have a bar and breakfast for so little money is another bonus. But without a doubt, the best thing is the staff. Thanks, guys!
Bathrooms are great
The bedroom are great too
I was struggling to find accomodation for the night in Rome. Someone suggested YellowSquare. The lady on the desk said it was a party hostel. I did not mind though at 68 I am past partying. There were no problems at all. Great stay.
The hostel is large and well equipped and well thought out.
Great place, good location and handy to Termini.
Great Atmosphere, amazing for solo travelers. Everything you need is there – social life, events are wonderfully organized. I can fully recommend!
Very nice atmosphere and good vibes, very good location, clean, and spacious room.
I think I realized I’m just too old for these type of party hostels. It was hard to find any quiet spaces. Room was noisy, common areas were loud and crowded. It was difficult to get sleep at night because of people coming back from parties and people sleeping through alarms. Its nothing on the hostel. Maybe on check in explaining how the workspace area worked or recomending local places wouldve been helpful. Staff were great, I just think Im not the demographic for a party hostel.
All services excellent
Lovely people, clean rooms, lot of activites, nice shared spaces.
The hostel in Athens almost feels like a hotel. Very new and clean, the beds are so comfortable. And the rooftop, the vibes and the view are just amazing. The rooms even have big balconies. You get a free welcome drink and afterwards a discount on everything else you order. You can also leave your luggage after checking out so thats great as well. The only thing – in room 502 the positioning of the lockers is a bit awkward. There’s three beds right next to two lockers and you always have to wait for each other to finish taking their stuff out before you can access it. It’s be better if the room had two bunks and lockers in the middle but it is what it is. Still an incredible place to stay and I’d book it again.
The cleanest and friendliest hostel I have stayed at. There is plenty of space with lockers for valuables, separate from the regular ones. They have curtains which give you privacy in your bed. Clearly a lot of money was invested into new and solid furniture and amenities. The staff hired by the hostel clearly work hard and make sure that everyone gets a pleasant experience.
Good location close to main square, great hostel, one of the best I’ve stayed in
There is such a vibe in this hostel.
From the people working there, they make you join the groups and make friends.
Receptionist are friendly, and there is always someone in there which is good.
The rooms are ok, it’s well located and it’s clean.
Will book again in other country it’s sad they don’t have it everywhere.
Awful location, but for me it’s worth it cause I prefer the pool and sunbathing over sight seeing. However there’s another hostel closer to city with a pool I went in for a view and it is just as good I think
We stayed in a 4 bed female dorm, which was clean and quiet. Good location, walking distance from many sites and close to metro stop to get directly to the airport and ferry port. Amazing view from rooftop bar and frequent social events. Shared kitchen has a lot of space and appliances.
Very nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Amazing rooftop. Very chill atmosphere
Is perfectly located near the city center, I could arrived directly from the airport with the metro and when I arrived I felt so welcomed by everyone, the reception and the bar team are amazing and the terrace with all the events is just perfect after a day out in the town. Very social but also very quiet in the rooms, would recommend to anyone honestly.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The location was convenient, the rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable, and the rooftop was awesome for watching sunsets. A few of the staff were friendly and helpful but most weren’t very welcoming.
It was amazing. The only thing that I would prefer would be staying in a different floor. I’m an early sleeper and stayed in the bedroom near the recietion.
This was my second stay at a YellowSquare property, and while my first experience in Florence was excellent, my recent visit to the Rome location was absolutely infuriating beyond words.
I contacted the administration two weeks before my arrival to request a lower bunk, which they confirmed. Yet, when I arrived on Friday, September 19, at around 2:20 a.m., I was livid to find that another guest had taken my assigned bed. The night receptionist had the audacity to instruct me to use an upper bunk instead, which, to my utter frustration, initially lacked a pillow. This oversight was completely unacceptable and a blatant failure of basic hospitality.
The following day, I was moved to a different room (G2584, if I recall correctly), which seemed promising at first. However, that night turned into an absolute nightmare. I was in lower bed 4, and the guests in the adjacent upper bed (across from bed 3) engaged in sexual activity. This blatant violation of hostel rules made it impossible for me to sleep. When I reported the incident, I was absolutely furious to hear that action would only be taken if it happened again. Management should have cracked down on this outrageous behavior immediately, issuing a strong warning or sanction to those guests.
While I do acknowledge the staff’s quick resolution of the bed mix-up, their complete failure to take decisive action against this serious rules violation left me beyond dissatisfied. Being asked to “give it another chance” is not only dismissive
We only stayed one night at YellowSquare, but really wish we could have spent more! The place is really amazing, wether it comes to the dorms or the plenty of common spaces – we genuinely kept being surprised to find new ones, like the Chapel downstairs and everything, or the helpfulness and good mood of the staff. We also took part in the social activities (the mixology class and the quiz night), and instantly clicked with a dozen of people, both thanks to the activities as ice-breaker, and the atmosphere of the Piazetta and Baretto, that really helped feeling comfortable and open to meet other travelers!
Everyone so friendly and lovely, the hostel is clean and comfortable (except the upper bed) it was a wonderful experience, so sad it got over so quickly and I hope to come back soon!
I stayed at Yellowsquare for a short solo trip in Athens and I had a really good time. The rooms and bathrooms are really clean, the beds are very comfortable, and a short walk to the city centre. Staff are super friendly and helpful, overall I would really recommend this hostel.
The hostel is located about 30 minutes from the most famous sights (cathedral, galleries). There are lots of facilities and activities at the hostel, which is great. The biggest drawbacks were the noise and the cleanliness of the room. We were woken up several times during the night by people shouting in the corridor or doors slamming. The room was full of dust, which meant all our luggage was dirty. Recommended for those who can cope with a bit of noise and don’t mind a bit of dust!
I can’t believe I paid 70 euros (on one of the nights) for an 8 bed bed mixed dorm. There were no privacy curtains on the bunks, and the bathroom was tiny and cramped. The staff were really nice. The bar opposite was fine, but its a shame there is no cozy communal area within the hostel to hang out.
The hostel was very well maintained and the rooms were great. The only issue we had was the washer/dryer situation (it took our money and we didn’t get it back and then also had an issue with the washer not working) but the staff tried to help and made sure we got our clothes finished that night.
This hostel is very nice and very well equipped. The bathroom was a bit dirty so that’s annoying considering the price of the hostel. But in overall, I recommend !
I had such a pleasant experience at the YellowSquare Hostel. Everything was cleaned and organized. The hostel, the bar and every facility have a great visual communication. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Really recomended it.
Everything was very clean and all staff were super accomodating. Loved the open mic night
Wow!! What an amazing hostel. This is probably the best hostel i have ever stayed in and i have stayed in lots! They have free pasta everyday, a free welcome drink, they offer lots of free activities everyday. The kitchen is great, they have a laundry, easy luggage storage, a roof top pool. I can’t express enough how great the place was! Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Staying at a few other yellow squares this trip we will see how they compare to Yellow Squares Florence.
it was OK, my first night I had a bump in my mattress but I got from the airport very late so I just handled that in the morning, in the morning i went for a tour to Como lake( which by the way was amazing with Franchesco from hostel QUO) when I told them if they can replace it they said no problem but when I got back to the room I saw they didn’t, so only at the second time I asked they came with me to handle it. the second night, around 9 in the morning someone was drilling extremely hard because they fixed something in the outside bar.
beside that everything was OK it is a cool hostel, good vibes and nice facilities for the price:)
Very cool atmosphere and I liked the activities they lined up, it was easy to meet others through the hostel. The bar was well equipped and had relatively fast service. Staff was friendly and tried to be helpful as possible. Some problems for me were that our room flooded the first night because the shower drain didn’t work properly. Then when I tried to get a private room for one night because of my conserns with a sick roommate the staff said they could not look this up in their system and encouraged me to try their website, something which seems very odd to me. The washers were also oddly small, which became annoying for many people I spoke with because of the price (which could be seen as fair for the area).
Overall a positive experience, but I am quite annoyed that now two days later I am stuck at home with influensa which could have been avoided.
Great hostel for socializing with others. Rooms were clean and it was advertised as is. The only pieces that fell short for me that were notable were the wifi was super spotty in our room and would typically not work. It made it so I had to use much more data than anticipated. Also, the laundry wasn’t working when I was there, so I had to go down the street to a laundromat. It also says it has adapters thinking they would be in each room, but they didn’t exist (they were probably in some social areas?). In summary, good overall, great for a very social experience but would have been nice to have all the features working as advertised.
I enjoyed my stay at the Yellowsquare Rome. The location was 10min from the train station and easy enough to walk or catch the metro to all the sights. The bed was comfortable and the shower had great pressure. The rooms and bathroom was clean to a typical hostel standard. The bar across the road was a nice touch for socializing and getting to meet people. Would stay again.
