YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
I really enjoyed my stay, the location is perfect and the hostel is friendly and very clean. I liked that it had a co-working space, a nice size community kitchen and the roof top was a great bonus. I stayed in a 4 person women only dorm, it was quite nice – had it’s own bathroom, it was clean, the beds were comfortable andmy roommates were friendly. Something I didn’t like is that not all beds had curtains (those that had were super loud) and also the lockers were extremely loud and placed right next to where our heads are when we sleep.
The staff were kind all the time and they speak more than one language which is useful. The rooms were good enough for our short stay in the city. The food at the bar was some kind of cheap for the quality it has.
Nicer than your average hostel, the rooftop bar was amazing! Also good spot to make friends
Yellowsquare hostel Milan was very welcoming and helpful on arrival, helped to my room and given a free drinks voucher for the bar. There was a sociable bar with board / drinking games, a comunal kitchen, a courtyard area and a few other rooms I hadn’t explored. Lots of rooms for guests meaning there were lots of solo travellers to make friends with especially at the social events held in the evenings and ran by the hostels volunteers.
Wish the accommodation was a little closer to the centre but it’s perfect if you’re ok to take the metro!
The place was spotless, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful & the place is just an incredible vibe. Huge thank you to Denise as well for helping me out!
The stay was good, the beds were very comfortable, and the locker to store your belongings was spacious (it fits a carry-on and a medium backpack easily). There was also an additional safe next to the bed area.
The only thing that could be improved is the bathroom cleanliness. We stayed for 4 nights, and they only changed the floor towels next to the shower. However, the floor was constantly dirty and full of hair, and the toilet was never cleaned. (it had a very strong smell throughout the entire stay).
I messed up my booking and that lovely women went beyond and above to find sth for me even though they very fully booked. I got a more expensive stay for the cheaper price in the end. Clean, convenient, curtains, sockets and lights in every cabin, huge kitchen, very nice roof top bar, nice evening program, price more than reasonable
Great vibes. Met good people. Had lots of fun.
The rooms were fantastic, all equipped with lockers, private bathrooms and outlets in bunks. I booked an all girls 4 person room and enjoyed every aspect. They provide towel service for 1.5€ and unlimited refresh. I would 10…% recommend this for an upcoming visit. Also, location is very close to Athens center.
The hostel has a great location and the rooms are nice.
The walls are really thin and the people in our floor where a bit loud sometimes.
but the overall experience was good and I would book the hostel again.
I spent one night at Yellowsquare because my niece was staying there. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room (private single room) and the comfort of it. Sheets and towels are provided. It’s comparable to a 3-star hotel and more reasonably priced. The hostel is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood just a few minutes’ walk from metro and tram stops. They organize lots of social events, tour and other activities. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
The staff is fantastic, the guests were friendly. I met nice people, enjoyed the free pasta (what you’d expect from free food), and appreciated a glass of wine as a welcome drink for free! I would have very much appreciated a non alcoholic option and discounts extended to N/A drinks as well. I felt like my best bet was to order alcohol because of the discounts, but I hadn’t drank in 6 months prior. It would be great to not encourage drinking so much, even though I understand that is a popular activity and does bring in great revenue.
There is a club/bar and you can hear the activities late into the night from the rooms. The bathroom was kind of nasty, lots of hair in corners, grimy floor and bathtub. The hallways didn’t seem to be cleaned daily. The beds were clean, so that was critical!
Overall, I’d stay again because of the great activities, people, and general atmosphere, but with a few small improvements, this could be an OUTSTANDING location. Thanks for everything!!
I had an amazing stay! The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, and everything I needed was available. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again!
The activities Yellowsquare organized helped solo travelers like me to connect and feel that sense of community
Very friendly personel, good location and great people in general.
At night there was a guy screaming all night long and hitting the iron frame of his bed after wich he fell from the upper double bed on the ground. Very funny guy haha 10/10 would come again
The rooftop view was a highlight, very clean and modern, with lots of activities. My only suggestion would be some more comfortable seating areas to socialise rather than just working tables.
Hostel is good. 5 min walking distance to termini to catch any metro or bus. Amenities and rooms are as mentioned in description. Breakfast is okay.
Colosseum: Take 75 number bus from Indipendenza (3-4 min walking distance from hostel)
Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona: Take 87 number bus from Colosseum to Corso.
Trastevere: Take 75 number bus
Spanish Steps: Take metro line A from termini. Exit at spagna. Just 400m walking distance.
From destination in rome, if you are going back to hostel, just take 75 or 492 bus.
I quite enjoyed this hostel! Clean, and nice ppl. I booked rather quickly without checking out ammenities and it would’ve been really nice if the front desk ppl had mentioned there’s a kitchen etc etc. I didn’t find that out till the day I left when I put my luggage in storage. That’s all!
Enjoyed my stay here. The people were nice and the location was great – a 10 minute walk from the city centre. The building was very modern and the facilities were nice, especially the rooftop bar. My only criticism was that the bathrooms were designed poorly, in a way that let lots of water leak from the shower to the rest of the area (there was no door just a partition) and had no real ventilation except for a tiny window, which meant there was standing water which attracted mosquitos. After getting bitten on the first night I used repellant and it was fine after.
Great and very social hostel. I stayed in 4 female dorm and it was perfect. It’s very close to metro, restaurants and supermarkets. All the staff were very accommodating.
Everything was amazing! If I come to Athens again, I will definitely stay at this hostel. It was spotlessly clean and very spacious. The rooftop view was stunning. Thank you for everything!
Probably the best hostel experience I’ve ever had. 🙌🏼 Very good, clean facilities, super attentive and helpful staff, and the rooftop bar on the top floor is undoubtedly the best place in the building, in my opinion. Perfect view of the Acropolis. The only thing that isn’t so perfect is the location, in a slightly dangerous area that, especially at night and for women, can seem a little “dangerous,” but I think that’s just another aspect of the city of contrasts that is Athens. Highly recommended!
The hostel was fine in terms of cleanliness, facilities, and customer service. I arrived quite late and the bar area was busy, but I was greeted and checked in immediately. I shared a dorm with 3 other women and the room was very clean and so was the bathroom, and shampoo, towels, handwashing, and a hairdryer etc. were all available. There was a lack of secure storage in the room, but there is secure storage in the basement which I used when exploring the city. Great location too.
An amazing hostel. Great facilities, brilliant amenities and fantastic custpmer service. One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in ,
I thought the staff were super accommodating and nice, and the bar/cafe downstairs has pretty good prices. i wished there was more common spaces indoors, but the kitchen was super great and well-equipped! the rooms are pretty small but shower and bathroom is good and clean. My only complaint would be that the duvet is the thickness of a paper towel, and so I was so cold at night.
Very nice hostel with good amenities. Nice staff, good program options every day. Love the rooftop!
Not the safest area of Athens but good location in order to reach the center by foot and discover Athens walking. Metro and bus and a big supermarket are also close by.
The hostal is very cool and always found everything impecable. I had an issue since some other guests took the bed is was meant for me, staff couldn’t help a lot but were happy to reacomodate me and offer me a free drink in compensation. Even though not all staff were helpful or even nice, there were a couple of them that always treated us with a smile
Check-in was a pain, unable to book a bed in person, I needed to go via the website which was glitching. The dorm room I was assigned was full, so I had to go back to recpetion to switch rooms. Facilities were adequate, but bathrooms starting to be dated with mould/grime. Everything advertised about YellowSquare has the vibe of fun and personal, and does not translate to the feeling of staying there. The rooftop view was stunning. This place is perfectly adequate for a short stay.
Checked in into my room only to find the shelf I was assigned (corresponding to my bed number) was already taken and was locked. So I thought somone must have messed up which happens in Hostels all the time so I kept my luggage into the only closet that was available thinking rest three must have already checked in and taken the sheves. Now the person who was assigned the bed that had my shelf number checked in and not finding his shelf empty must have asked the reception to break my lock. They broke my lock and conveniently took my luggage downstairs without leaving a note and the morning I was checking out, was left frantically looking for my luggage. Apparently somone had taken two shelf spaces. Understand that shelf was needed by the person who was assigned the corresponding bed but they could have been “mindful enough to leave a note”
It is the best hostel I have ever been, because It has everything, form coworking place and roofbar, breakfast, reception is open 24 hours, you can rent a towel, they thought every detail for digital nomads.
so friendly, so social, such cool vibes. loved it
Yellow square was amazing , I did my first ever solo trip and decided to stay in yellow square . After a long day of exploring it was so comfortable to come in , have a chat with people around the world , board games , dinner etc. I was worried about hostel stays before my travel but yellow square made it a memory . I will definitely come back
Hostel is very well organized with a nice bar and restaurant.
Overall a great experience just the wifi was not working properly. It kept logging me off
The facilities were good, not great. For example the bathroom was very tiny with no mirror. The noise from outside (bar downstairs) was extremely loud every night, they offer ear plugs but I’m surprised this is allowed in this neighborhood where people live in the same building and next door. The location was ok, close the Termini station but far from just about everything else so I spent a lot of time taking the bus and metro everywhere.
Everything was really nice
Really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The price is decent, you get one free drink at the bar and there is free food (cereals/oil/salt and cooked pasta in the evening). Everything was clean and modern. They offer events each day, so it’s easy to get in contact with other people staying at the hostel
By far the best showering and toilet facilities in the room of any hostel I’ve visited. The rooftop bar had incredible views. The bed was comfy and there are lockers and safes in the rooms.
We really enjoyed staying here. The beds were comfortable, the shower was refreshing after a long day of travel, and we especially loved the free drink on arrival at the rooftop bar, with a spectacular view of the acropolis! Not to mention the groove vibe and convenient location. We also loved how eco friendly it all was. Would definitely stay here again 🙂
