YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
Overall many major things need improvement:
Cleanliness (the bed frame was very dusty, air quality inside the room (no proper ventilation), renovation standard inside the room and particualy in the washroom with old plastics, take away breakfast standard and the fact that breakfast start very late (7.30 am) so I couldn’t have it and had to take a take away box which was very poor quality.
Really warm and welcoming place. Staff were super chill, kind, and always ready to help. I really enjoyed mu stay.
It was a great stay, while the area seems a bit sketchy it has many great hidden gems of restaurants and shops you don’t expect to run into.
The room was very comfortable with great big cushions on the bed and the shower was also amazing. With free use of the air conditioning and access to a balcony, I was very happy with the autonomy given to keep myself happy.
The bar upstairs was great open space and amazing view of the city and acropolis.
The other shared spaces were also very nice, I didn’t stay in them but the coworking and and reception area looked comfortable and clean for anyone just wanting to sit and relax a little.
It was my first time in a hostel and it was a wonderful experience. I felt very safe the entire stay. The room is amazing and the fact that we had a bathroom only for us made a huge difference in comfort and practicality. The clean service of our room was amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The activities at the hostel are really fun and the Yellow Bar is a good place to hang out at night and meet new people!
Because the beds are made entirely out of metal, they are quite loud. It’s fine, but just hard to be quite if you are leaving early morning or coming in late at night.
As for the wifi, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting. It was a strong signal but during busy hours (e.g. at bed time) it would be really spotty and would disconnect and reconnect repeatedly.
The hostel was social good priced had free pasta and cereal, the showers were amazing and so were the dorm rooms I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about YellowSquare Florence the only one thing is that it’s a bit out of the way from the center but the walk is nice and there are buses that you can get
Convenient spot needs no more words. The staff are so nice and the balcony is the best gift I could have in Athens. Every single morning there is wonderful and the welcome drink on the rooftop is even more attractive. Stunning view of Acropolis and the best whether in Athens, how can I ask more?
very helpful staff, fun events, nice looking building and very convenient location
Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It was clean and modern. Fantastic kitchen facilities! Overall absolutely amazing.
The location and room were great. However, the bathroom flooded and did not properly drain and the cleaners constantly opened the windows to allow all the mosquitos inside, also when I left a note.
Finally, the wristband system is somewhat dangerous, especially for solo travelers. This is essentially informing the outside world where you are staying.
The Friday night at the bar was also simply creepy.
got a private room when we booked for a 4 people room! staff were extremely kind and helpful, and the man serving breakfast offered to give me ice when I filled up my water bottle.
Goid beds, super bar and breakfast
Modern and updated, reasonably clean, friendly staff that care about their workplace and happy to assist their guests.
All in all this is a hostel targeted at young travelers but kind of on the verge of being a hotel.
Excellent!
A wonderfully located accommodation right in the city center.
The rooms are well-equipped for maximum comfort.
The atmosphere is perfect, and the staff are very friendly.
Nice and spacious hostel but the beds were uncomfortable and loud
Bed bugs
Had a good stay, thank you
Our stay in yellowsquare was fantastic! You might think the area was a bit sketchy but it really isnt!! Their location is very walkable to most tourist spots in Athens..It’s a 5-10 minute walk to Monastiraki Square and Monastiraki train station(which connect to the airport)…I also love their rooftop bar where you can watch sunset while drinking wine..
In my opinion a great place to stay. The common area is cozy and the vibe is good. Size of my room was great. Beds are fine in general. Sometimes it can get a bit noisy when you hit the metal wall part. Bathrooms are a bit aged but perfectly alright. It’s nice that the rooms have their own ones. I bet this place is vibrant in summer with the rooftop pool. I was happy about the curtain sheet you can get at the reception.
I loved my stay here. The staff were very kind and helpful, the room and en suite were clean and cozy, and the location is great! I would definitely stay here again.
I was really nervous about staying at a hostel, but the best decision I made for my solo trip to Rome was staying at the Yellow Square. It’s only a 10 minute walk to Termini Station and close to other sites as well. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. And I got to meet people there from all over the world that I became quick friends with. It was truly a great experience!
The staff were absolutely amazing! Incredibly kind and helpful during the whole stay!!
Absolutely the best! Way beyond my expectations. Friendly staff, brand new facilities, free paste, bar and other activities make this YellowSquare so unique. Would love to come back if possible.
Is a good place with nice people.
Yellow Square Rome is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Europe. The atmosphere is super social but still comfortable — perfect whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with recommendations or bookings.
The rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean, and the beds are comfortable. The location is unbeatable — easy walking distance to Termini station, restaurants, and major attractions. The connected bar downstairs is a huge plus, great for meeting people and enjoying live music or events in the evening.
Overall, it’s got the perfect mix of fun, comfort, and convenience. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Rome!
It was a great stay. It was in a central location and hosted great activities on a daily basis. The rooftop bar with an excellent view of the city was the cherry on top.
I stayed 2 Nights at Yellowsquare, it was perfect. I thought it might be nice to be closer to the train station so checked out OstelloBello but i was wrong. I saw the other review saying bed bug bites and thought it might just be a one time. They are so itchy and painful and now it’s 1am in Florence (trained from milan this morning) and I can’t sleep because of bed bug bites from OstelloBello. I want a refund.
The rooms were comfortable and well kept and the communal spaces were amazing and fostered great conversations! I especially loved the culture of the restaurant/bar!
The area of this hostel it’s really good, just 5 min about the Termini station. The rooms it’s clean. The little bad point is the laudry, 2 washing machine it’s too little compared to the number of rooms.
a clean comfortable room in a good location with several great restaurant options close by. I think the option of a breakfast buffet would go a long way to improving the atmosphere.
Great staff, met some wonderful people, would definitely recommend!
My experience at this hostel in Florence was excellent. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The facilities are well-maintained, clean, and have a very welcoming atmosphere. They also organize plenty of activities, making it easy to meet people and fully enjoy your stay.
We had a small issue with the two people we were sharing the room with, but when we spoke to the staff, they understood our perspective, were very kind, and resolved everything immediately.
I was so pleased with the experience that I’ll be traveling to Milan in a few days and have already booked with them again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, clean hostel with a great social atmosphere.
The hostel was social, the free pasta was good too! The bathroom smelt terrible tho and there was no airflow in the rooms. The thermostat wasn’t great either
From tge moment I checked until I checked out everything was absolutely incredible. The bed and sheets were clean it’s a central location , highly social and events every night. The staff and stayers were all super sweet and helpful. So much someone definitely book again! The rooms are accessed with a key and beds have big lockers underneath . Everyone was super respectful of each other especially in the morning and night. 10/10 highly recommend best hostel I ever stayed at!!!
The hostel is located at a good location. About 10 min away from the train station and a tram just around the corner. Its a beautiful building with an overall nice feel and look. The staff is warm, welcoming and kind. They where very helpful when the ac didn’t work and when the offered to change rooms. We stayed at a private room and had almost everything we needed. Overal I would recommend, but it is important to know that (some) of the private rooms are close to the bar and music may be played and heard till 2.15 am. The rooms are hot en the ac can not be regulated per room and in november only blow hot air. If you do not turn on the ac its okay, but if you prefer a cooler room its not possible cause the window can not be openend.
