YellowSquare Reviews: Rome
YellowSquare Rome is located a 10-minute walk from the city center and is a solo-traveler friendly base. We offer female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms for all types of travelers. If you need to get work done, Smartsquare is our professional coworking space. For food and social vibes, Yellow Bar is our main restaurant and events hub, while the Arcade hosts stand-up comedy and activities in the basement. It’s the perfect place to meet travellers, grab a drink, go for stroll with new friends and connect with our global community.
Great hostel for socializing with others. Rooms were clean and it was advertised as is. The only pieces that fell short for me that were notable were the wifi was super spotty in our room and would typically not work. It made it so I had to use much more data than anticipated. Also, the laundry wasn’t working when I was there, so I had to go down the street to a laundromat. It also says it has adapters thinking they would be in each room, but they didn’t exist (they were probably in some social areas?). In summary, good overall, great for a very social experience but would have been nice to have all the features working as advertised.
İts a very good hostel, well organized
Best hostel I ever stayed
The hostel is very clean and social.
Definitely coming back. Bathroom was big. Beds were comfortable. A.C worked great. Everyone is so kind, it was just wonderful
comfy beds, a lot of activities, the bathrooms could be cleaned more often but still ok for a hostel 🙂
Clean, extremely social, well kept, would absolutely stay there again.
All great, except for the mold in the showers. Please fix this and you will be a 10/10. Christina at front desk super helpful.
I had a great experience at YellowSquare! The staff were really friendly and nice. I had a small issue with one of the power outlets in my room and it was fixed by that evening. The aircon was good and I really liked there was an individual safe for each bed and curtains that pulled across each bed for privacy.
Will always choose YellowSq when in Italy. Easily the best for a clean, fun and social hostel.
overall GREAT GREAT experience, all staff and travellers were super nice. also location is super convenient
The arrangement of the rooms was very cool and I loved the bar downstairs, but toilet had flushing problems and the shower was very small and impractical
The hostel is great. Really loved the Spaces they have and the people too.
When I’m coming to Rome I’m always staying there. Very nice staff . rooms are clean and there is always something to do and meet new friends.
Great facilities – very good air conditioning, bunkbeds with privacy curtain, a kitchen, a lounge type area. Across the road is the bar, in which you can receive one free drink, and daily free pasta and nachos. The hostel is really clean overall.
I think if you are not very outgoing / don’t want to be socially overwhelmed then you can still enjoy your stay at the hostel, which itself is quite private and has quieter spaces (like the lounge). However, since the bar is right opposite, it may be intimidating to socialise in such a busy loud space with alcohol. Great for anyone who loves that type of atmosphere, but otherwise it might be a bit hard to meet people.
Absolutely recommend going to the bar for breakfast – amazing deal for 3.50euro coffee and pastry!
Hostel is good located and they have good bar for hanging out. But I didn’t like the staff, they were not helpful at all. There were a girl when I was doing a check out, she was flirting with the guy there and just ignored my questions so I had to leave without my questions answered. Also, sink in the bathroom was not working.
It was such a nice atmosphere and you get to know so many people, I loved it!
Most fun I’ve ever had in my life. Staff were amazing too.
The most perfect hostel! Such a lively, social atmosphere. The rooms + facilitates were spotless. There are so many amenities, game tables, chill out spots and even their own bar! The bar was so social, such a great spot for meeting new people. Also lots of organised events. Slightly out of the way for visiting the heart of Rome, but it was such a good experience that it didn’t matter.
Very clean and tidy. Staff are at the reception 24/7 and can help with literally any request you might have. Shoutout to Laura, the sweetest and kindest receptionist.
Great social hostel
The hostel was very secure and felt safe. Everything was reasonably clean other than the bathrooms which were quite dirty and needed a good clean. It wasn’t a particularly social hostel but the overall vibes were good. The location was decent, not too far of a walk from most things and the bar across the street was a fun place to end the night.
Thanks all perfect 🫂🫶
Thanks a lot it was amazing experience
I stayed in a women only dorm and it was super great, clean, spacious, it had everything you need. The staff from the hostel was really nice as well! The Yellow Bar was also a nice experience and I met many people there. Yet, one guy from the staff, Guzman, was drunk and was definitely taking advantage of his staff position (forcing people to drink for instance), which made me and my friends a bit uncomfortable.
It was good
The hostel was really clean and the vibe was good. Had heaps of fun events and location was great! My issue was that unfortunately someone working at reception checked in a guest under my name as both our first names were the same. This meant that I actually had to pay extra than what I expected. I originally booked the 6 bed female dorm and then had to pay extra for the 4 bed female dorm. Not just that happened but also my first night there, I was alone in the dorm and around 2:30-3:00am someone comes in and sleeps on the bed above me. I don’t understand how they got in and this just made me a little uncomfortable. I’m guessing this person couldn’t sleep in their room that night and the reception gave a key to my dorm. I would rather have been woken up and told that someone was going to sleep in the room for the night.
Nuff said
The room was really spacious with very comfy beds, the added curtain provided privacy and space. Through the hostel run events managed to meet lovely people that we then met up with multiple times. The hostel was extremely helpful printing off train tickets for us and help with laundry. Great location too can walk into town or catch the bus or metro from close by.
I really enjoyed this hostel. It was clean, both the rooms and the bathrooms are in good conditions. The beds all have curtains that give you much appreciated privacy when sharing a space… the hostel staff is kind, funny and helpful. The Yellow bar is a great vibe with good drinks and fair prices. The food is also really good. I highly recommend going for the free pasta from 18:30 – 20:00. You can’t enter the building without a key card or a staff member letting you in, so security is also good.
Great atmosphere and services
I feel good
this was my second hostel ever, so i had no idea what to expect but boy was i suprised! This was honestly an experience that i will never forget, the people i met, the places we went to and rome itself, absolutely amazing!!!
YellowSquare Rome made our trip unforgettable. Traveling with my best friend, I felt completely safe and comfortable letting loose and soaking in the experience, something I didn’t expect to feel so easily in a foreign country. The setup of the hostel is brilliant: social, vibrant, and welcoming without ever feeling chaotic or unsafe. The rooms were clean, the vibe was electric, and every space felt thoughtfully designed.
Special shoutout to the bar staff, they made our nights feel like events of their own. Friendly, fun, and full of great recommendations (and drinks), they really elevated the entire experience. Between the atmosphere, the people we met, and the memories made, YellowSquare will forever hold a special place in my heart.
The hostel was good with a great vibe and heaps going on over at the bar with cheap drinks. However my room was extremely dirty with odd stains on the walls, mold in the bathroom and the shower curtain fell on my head. The staff also felt standoffish whenever i asked them where something was.
I’ve stayed in different hostels around the world and even though it looks very modern, the arrangement of the rooms and having 2 different buildings makes it difficult to connect with other travelers, which ot is important when you are solo traveling. Also the service was not great from the staff, they should be able to help you have a great experience in this place you are visiting and you know nothing about this place, they should be the experts to give you advise, in which their answer to me was I don’t know. Internet was more helpful than them.
I had a great time and i could work with no problem! the hostel is more like a hotel with shared bedrooms, because the spaces arente very sharable if youre a solo traveler, but it delivers! I liked the experience and the staff was always happy and very helpful. The kitchen was very very nice and the wifi was ok for the amount of people staying. Im happy overall
