YellowSquare Reviews: Milan
Located in the heart of the Porta Romana district, YellowSquare Milan offers female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms. Instead of a formal office, we have The Baretto, a laptop-friendly space where you can work, study, and eat during the day before it turns into an aperitivo and social meeting spot. Salone14 is our events hub in Milan, it's a local 'it-spot' where travelers and locals meet for live music, DJ sets, stand-up comedy, karaoke, and creative projects, it's more like a nightlife without leaving the hostel.
The hostel is clean, and the security safe in your bed is a nice addition to the luggage locker. Staff are also amazing – very accommodating and friendly. They create a good atmosphere. My only feedback is I wish each bed had a privacy curtain.
Very comfy and clean rooms. The atmosphere is also very nice.
The whole staff was polite and helpful. The cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom was well done. Good localisation with good public transportation around.
Very loud music, my bed was even vibrating from the bass
The hostel was clean and never expected this from the hostel.. it is near to the center and the staff were very friendly..
Personally, I was very busy during my time in Milan, so did not get much of a chance to use the common areas and services. However, the 4 bed female dorm I stayed in was great and very clean, and I appreciated the body wash and shampoo. The kitchen was very practical as well.
Great staff, clean, game night was so much fun. The food was great ant the restaurant. Overall everyone that I talked to there said this is the best hostel they’ve been to in Europe. Amazing everything and a super fun time!
I really enjoyed my stay here.
The bed was really confortable and everything was very clean.
The location near the Metro its also a very good point.
Full of activities during the week.
Stayed for four days and got everything I need! Met a lot of new friends and had a lot of fun! The volunteers help out a lot and the internal events are quite fun if no other plans exist. Only some organization regarding the room was mixed up but it was only a minor inconvenience. I would again choose the YellowSquare especially for their good location. The food and drinks were also good!
Hostel was very good
But the room was very small
Staff were very helpful, breakfast was good as you were able to choose from the menu. Good atmosphere they have something on every night! A good happy hour and welcome drink was nice to get everyone involved!
Good hostel, with events for bookers, clean sheets, clean matresses, I recommend it
Helpful, fun place to stay. Definitely recommended
This hostel was so modern and beautiful. The overall atmosphere was so chilled, everything had been thought of so we had a great time staying here.
I really loved my stay! The bathroom and room were very clean and the staff was nice. But everything is very expensive. It starts with the room itself but also a wine for 5/6 euro’s is imo too much for a small glass in a hostel. Or 4 for a beer is crazy 🙁
Great location, energy, food, and staff. This is my second time here and I will be back.
The hostel is great. The rooms are always clean, the staff is friendly and bubbly. The events and interactive activities available for people is so useful. Solo traveling, or just traveling in general is amazing, however, traveling changes you as a person through the people you meet along the way. I have stayed at yellowsquare in Florence, Milan, and Rome. Each times I have met the most amazing people that have taught me so many things, about the world, about my self. The activities provide just the space to break the ice for so many people. I highly highly recommend and will be going back to yellowsquare. Also added bonus the breakfasts are fab! They truly have highlighted the essential needs for someone to function, there are healthy fats, protein, carbs, etc. Not that everyone needs to use this information, but they are thought out and designed for you be full for the day.
Everything was very clean, the hostel had plenty of activities and nice common spacez. The only downsides were that my 4 bed shoebox dorm was very small and not well ventilated even when the window was open, but this was a minor issue.
I really liked my stay at the yellow square hostel. The staff was nice and helpful. I enjoyed all the activities that were offered. The hostel was clean and within a walking distance away from the city center. I really would recommend staying here.
I stayed the first time at a YellowSquare hostel and loved the concept. Every day is at least one event organised – I curved pumpcins, took part in a pictonary -evening and listened to stand-up-comedy. This was a perfect opportunity to connect with other guests.
Altough also discos were part of the programm, it was quiet in the dorms.
In the kitchen you can use several products like noodles and cornflakes for free.
The hostel is close to the dome, it’s just a walk of half an hour. You can also reach it within some minutes with M3, which is also directly connected with the main station.
me ha encantado. repetiré
I loved my stay at the hostel. They were very pleasant days, a clean, organized environment with pleasant people. I would definitely go back.
I love everything about this hostel. The hostel have such a great vibe. There are a lot of events the hostel promote to have fun. But if I want to sleep the room area is quiet and warm, the bed is comfy and the rooms are modern anda clean. I want to come back!
Positive aspects: The hostel in general was pretty good and clean, the people were having a lot of fun. Negative aspects : the kitchen was closed when I got there at 10:15 pm, I couldn’t cook my dinner. The room was really hot even with the window open, and there were honestly 15-20 mosquitoes in the room, I heard them buzzing all night and got stung on the eye. The hostel is not fully responsible for this but having mosquito repellent around would be a good idea.
The Hostel is close to the metro, nice restaurant around. The room was super clean and nice !
This hostel is great! It is peaceful if you want to rest but it also offers lots of activities if you want to have fun.
I arrived before checking, hoping the drop my luggage off and come back later. But the woman on reception double checked and my bed was ready! She kindly escorted me to my room and offered to help carry my bag as we had a few stairs to climb.
The room itself was great – lockers matching each bed that I could easily fit my two pieces of hand luggage and an en-suite for the 8 beds. Plug and light on the bed which makes such a difference.
I went on the Gelatour on my first night – a must do. It’s a great way to get your bearings, meet new people and more importantly eat gelato.
The staff gave me a voucher for a free drink during happy hour and you can refill your water at reception for free – again, it makes such a difference.
There are so many spaces for people to hang out and chat that the dorm itself was silent. The courtyard is beautiful and I wish I made the most of it, but after stomping around Milan all day I just wanted to go to sleep.
The location is great, it’s just off the M3, maybe a 10 minute walk maximum if you’re tired and you have heavy bags? But you could also easily walk into Milan instead, which I did the second day.
The staff are amazing though, they are so friendly and helpful. Once I’d checked out, they showed me where I could store my bags for the day for 1€ – you probably could fit a decent sized hold luggage in the locker so more than enough space for my two bags.
I will be back!
You can tell this is a quite big and professional hostel. Everything is very clean an well-organised, but it doesn’t have this cosy atmosphere you get in smaller hostels. The breakfast was amazing though and the events were nice. Point of improvement: curtains for the beds.
The hostel was really great. The events were great and I felt safe in the area. It’s not far from the metro, but it takes a bit of time to walk to the center. Met lots of nice people. Only the 4-bed room for women is a bit small. Still one of my favorite trips so far. Thank you!
Overpriced stay – room was very tiny, uncomfortable furnitures – metal chair in the room – really? It is extremely uncomfortable to sit on a metal chair with holes! Room was black end depressive. Lack of heating – I got sick. The music in the reception room was so loud that it was unpleasant to sit there. You cannot even enjoy a cup of coffee. Not even tea or coffee included in the price – what a shame. Everyone in the hall outside was smoking, it was uncomfortable to walk there everytime. The kitchen stinked and there was only ONE Spoon !! No mugs in the kitchen. The stay was so uncomfortable I higly regret being there. Never, ever would come back there.
HAving been to a couple of hostels in Italy, this was a good hostel and the atmosphere was great, social enough and very cool.
The room was very small, 4 beds – we couldn’t stand up in the room. While one of us was getting ready to leave, the three of us had to wait in the beds. Also, the room smelled very bad and was very warm
The location is pretty good nearby to the subway station. The room was pretty small for 4 beds but it’s okay. The only problem about the room was that the bed didn’t have curtains.
My frustration with the hostel was about the comedy show that happens on Wednesday. They were very racist and homophobic during the comedy show. I went to the receptionist and complained about it.
I wouldn’t stay again. It’s unacceptable that in 2024 we still having this kind of “comedy”.
The experience was great, the hospitality of the staff is good, they always help if you need it. For example they recommend us a near pharmacy and help us in how to get to the airport. Our room was clean and looked very conformable, counted with nice installations. Definitely I would stay again.
It was really amazing experience, super clean, helpful, full of activities and staff was just awesome.
I appreciated that it is clean and tidy, U have the opportunity tó socialize with other people, there are certain events they are organizing for tourists, which i highly recommend, either If its about an icecream tour őr about a karaoke night. It is öné of the best spot in milan If You are a Young traveller, either If You are alone őr with friends.
Great social atmosphere, met some really cool fellow solo travelers, I stayed in 4 bed female drop and it was comfortable with AC and ensuite and clean
Everything at the hostel is great. They have plenty of activities to get to know other people. The spaces are cosy and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is good, but Milan is a big city, so if you want to go to the true centre centre, it is still a larger walk.
