YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
Just a great time, if all hostels were like this then I’d never stay in a hotel.
Everyone was so incredibly friendly and welcoming! I was upgraded to a private room because of overbooking of 6-person rooms and it was the best surprise after a long day of travelling. Everything was extremely clean, the breakfast at Yellow Bar across the street was great and really reasonably priced, and I enjoyed a delicious cappucino with the free drink card.
This was my first time hostel experience travelling to a foreign country and I LOVED it.
YellowSquare offered everything a traveller could possibly need. From a bar which served excellent coffee and breakfast in the morning to various events organized in the evening. It is also well eqipped with kitchen, dining room, living room as well as laundry. Also, a big plus is that it is conviniently located, only a few minutes walk from Roma Termini (main bus/train station).
Finally, the staff at the reception are really nice and eager to help. A HUGE recommentation! I will for sure stay with them the next time I visit Rome, Milan or Florence.
This place is amazing. I knew nothing about Florence and I leave feeling like a local. Great location for easy exploration of the city, great food, the staff knows the city pretty well and always has a good recommendation for you. The rooms were super safe and confortable, and every day they had something different and fun. This is definitely the place you want to stay while in Florence.
Ppl in reception were so nice and welcoming
I met so many nice people and this is my best hostel so far thank you very much♥️
I stayed in a ladies dormitory of 4, it was comfortable, a little cold at night though and the pillow was too thin it hurt my neck, but the dormitory as a whole wasn’t bad. The bathroom had 2 closed stalls, one for the shower and other for the toilet, the sink was outside the stalls. This arrangement is smart for ladies usage as some might take sometime in the shower while others might just want to use the toilet. The toilet had a water hose next to it as well (which is optimum for us Arabs). I haven’t had this in any other hostel in Europe so I was quite pleased, such a small detail makes a big difference.
As for the lobby, it’s quite sociable, the hostel organizers hold different activities everyday, I participated in one (guess what I’m drawing game) and it was entertaining. Around 30 people participated. Even without the games the hostel’s atmosphere is good and inviting.
The receptionists are helpful when asked about anything.
As for other services, such as laundry, it’s €8 in total paid by card only, I think it’s a little pricey. The luggage lockers are for €1 and last the whole day, fair price.
The Santa Maria Novella train station is about 20mins away on foot (a bit longer if you have to drag heavy luggage). The city center attractions are almost 40mins away on foot, but when you start walking you’d reach quicker than you think, I never spent any money in public transportation in Florence.
One issue though that there are no near by supermarkets, they must be Googled, and if found, they close early in the evening.
I’d recommend this hostel, it offers a nice and a comfortable stay for fair prices.
Had a great stay at this place, staff was awesome, nothing bad to say really, good location. Will stay again at this spot.
The room was small and the amenities were nice enough. We didn’t splurge on a room because we knew we’d be out and about anyway, but I wouldn’t say the hostel nor the room were wonderful beyond the bare minimum.
I appreciated that there were some free food sharing baskets in the kitchen. The bathroom was kind of dirty. Everything was small and tight, but that’s to be expected. The location was nice being walking distance from the train station but far enough away that it felt a little bit safer.
Everything was great. Kitchen ,laundry facilities very clean. Customer service is great, they answer emails within minutes. Highly recommended
The kitchen was always dirty, with the pile full of unwashed dishes. Larger frying pans were missing, they were all too small. There was a lack of kitchen utensils. The bathroom in the room was not very clean, the rooms were.
It’s has a great location, very comfortable rooms, and pretty cool activities
From the moment I arrived I felt welcome and comfortable. My room was spacious enough and my bed my was comfortable and private. My roommate’s were friendly and respectful. The location was fantastic, 20-30 minutes walk away from the main areas of Florence, or a 3 minute walk to the tram stop. The whole place was extremely clean and the staff were so kind and helpful and accommodating. I had a lot of fun on the occasional night where I chose to stay in the hostel environment rather than the city. I would definitely stay again!
As a student studying abroad, this hostel made me feel safe and was welcoming. Complete with the lounge, and the bar just across the street (part of the hostel) there was always something exciting to come “home” to
Everything was great
Good environment, great to meet people, clean, nice staff people, close to metro station (2 blocks) and to train station (10 minutes by walk). The internet connection in rooms is no good.
Great location near the metro and 25 min walk to the Duomo. 24/hr reception was great. Staff were knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics and happy to take the time to help. Having a « restaurant » and social hang out spot made for a really nice atmosphere. Nice courtyard for warmer months.
When I checked in online i entered my passport details and I paid the city tax thing that’s required. I did that a few hours before I arrived at the hostel. When I arrived, the guy didn’t seem to care that I had checked in online, and I still needed to pull my passport out of my bag. That wasn’t as big of a deal. I can deal with that, but then he made me pay the city tax AGAIN. I told him I already paid it, and he said yeah yeah, this is different. Maybe he thought I was referring to already paying for the stay itself (which I also did). But he didn’t understand that I had paid city tax thing already. Reluctantly, I paid the 7 euros or whatever AGAIN but my interaction with this guy put things off to a rough start. I later looked at my credit card history and it indeed showed the two separate transactions for $7.62 USD.
I will give credit where credit is due, after a few days, the second charge was refunded without my asking, so thank you for that. But nonetheless it was still a frustrating process when I’m forced into a confrontational situation when first arriving at a place. I don’t like getting angry with people but it was hard for me not to be upset when someone is telling me I’m wrong when I KNOW that I’m right. I don’t know what exactly went wrong from a technical sense, but it seemed like the transaction from a few hours prior didn’t pop up on the guy’s screen when I checked in.
I don’t want to blame the employee, although he definitely could have handled it better, he remained calm and didn’t even come close to losing his temper. The information he had was simply wrong. And he acted as though he hadn’t considered that could be a possibility. He spoke to me like I was the one who was confused which irritated me.
I know the main focus of my review was my one negative experience, but everything else about my stay was positive
Long story short, I was intimated and assaulted by another guest. I came to find out upon my arrival back home that I was also drugged with various drugs. I do not remember a lot of what happened, i was told by my girlfriend who had been on video call with me l. I was threatened and had the information regarding my address, girlfriend, child questioned by said person. They made me bring them up to my room. My life was threatened, and I explained these very things to the workers at the hostel when a ran for help. ( keep in mind I was DRUGGED) so I can’t totally blame them for thinking I was just super drunk or something but I told them everything that happened and I was called a liar, told that everyone would be happier when I was gone, yelled at and all around treated poorly. Ultimately the police came and I was escorted back to my room to grab my belongings and took an uber to the airport where I ended up paying over 1200usd to change my flight 3 days early.
Great location, great staff, great options to help everybody
Clean, friendly, beautiful hostel!
Staff were friendly, the bathroom and rooms were very clean and modern, comfortable beds, well set out room, it was nice that they gave you body wash and shampoo in the bathroom and a safe above your bed for valuables, fun social activities
The property is a bit of a maze but it’s very nice, everything was clean and worked well. The only negative was that it’s a bit of a trek from the centre, but it’s not too bad. Thanks!
One of my favourite hostels! I was working and it was great! The roof top and garden are so nice when it’s sunny. It was so clean and the room was great. I was in a female 4 bed. The beds were so comfy and the bathroom was clean and modern
The hostel itself is really nice. The staff is friendly, they have a lot of fun activities, and I like that they have a cafe. Although I wasn’t able to sleep at all while I was there. I could hear the bass from the night club through the walls, so I only ended up getting 2-3 hours of sleep each night. The rooms were also very cold and I’d wake up with a sore throat every morning. There were also some weird stains on my comforter, so I didn’t use it. It also would’ve been nice if there were curtains on the bed, and there were no soap dishes in the shower which was very inconvenient.
I had a female room 4p. The bed was not that well. The people working there are very friendly. Renting a towel voor €1,- is perfect. I got a bag with it, very nice.
Price / quality good get better
The basin got stuck easily, overall is clean, but the mattress with sweat smell and too soft
Very clean, many activities for every day, the have the laundry, the workspace, th kitchen, the bar and even a hairsalon! Staff very friendly and ready to help, also the reception desk is 24!
Definately reccommend.
We had so much fun at this hostel. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Pretty clean and really good food. Movie night and free pasta were really nice.
Very comfortable room
Nice enviroment in the baretto
Friendly staff, good price, well located, nice ,fun and good prices bar , laundry,
They gave you free drinks it was very social and i had a great workspace but the lockers didn’t work as well as the safe. I think it was great how many amenities were included with the bar, and the lounge. It was easy to sleep at night, even in a loud street.
Enjoyed my stay especially the yoga class, I would return. I wish there was bed curtains for privacy and thicker bedsheets. At night it was colder although the AC was not on.
The experience at the Yellow was great. Great staff, great people and I really appreciated the common room and the coworking space.
Thank you for your perfect combination of hospitality, care taking, front desk service and very friendly staff, room offer and special conditions, beer and pasta, the good energy in your house and that you treated me like I’m 20 even if I’m 60! If you ever open a place for people 50+ I would like to stay longer, to find a date in my age
