YellowSquare Reviews: Rome
YellowSquare Rome is located a 10-minute walk from the city center and is a solo-traveler friendly base. We offer female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms for all types of travelers. If you need to get work done, Smartsquare is our professional coworking space. For food and social vibes, Yellow Bar is our main restaurant and events hub, while the Arcade hosts stand-up comedy and activities in the basement. It’s the perfect place to meet travellers, grab a drink, go for stroll with new friends and connect with our global community.
This place is a great summary of a usual Roman tourist experience: great people, but ridiculously over-priced place. The staff is great and very helpful. The facilities offered by the hostel are unique in the surrounding: restaurant and pub, co-working space, lockers, daily events, kitchen, etc. However, the old building is inadequate to host guests, like elsewhere in the city. First, there is no adequate air circulation system in the room. The air gets so stinky that I felt sick for a couple of nights. This is an issue in dorms, because some people may have more cold than others, preventing to open the windows. Second, there are no sound-proof walls and windows. This is ridiculous for a dormitory, especially with a disco-pub in the ground-floor! For 70€/night in a shared room with 4 strangers, I DO expect a better quality.
Atmosphère Nice, customer service attentive
Place was very good as I expected, bed really comfortable and clean
Very comfortable to stay in a 6 female dorm. The bed can be private if you use your towel or bedsheets as a curtain. And the hight of the lower bunker bed is enough to sit on the bed. I could feel I was in my own space.
Very clean in dorm, bathroom, kitchen and common spaces.
The staffs are very kind and helpful. Location is very good to access to major tourist sites by metro or bus.
The impressive things are event programs they organize every different day for guests. Even they provide a welcoming pasta and drink for free.
Hopefully any other guests can enjoy the hospitality and fun vibe in YellowSquare Rome, too.
The staff were nice and resolved my issues quickly. However it was a party hostel and too expensive in comparison. I found room mates very noisy and aggressive.
The washing machine was out of order and there was only one working for 4 buildings of guests!
The hair salon inside was a disaster and ruined my hair colour.
Stayed for two nights with YellowSquare in Rome, brilliant hostel. I met so many people and enjoyed the discounted drinks. I had a private room and it was similar to a hotel room
From the moment I arrived, I felt comfortable and relaxed at YellowSquare. The staff were so friendly, once I told them about my series of unfortunate events, they went the extra mile to help and empathise. The room clean and the bed comfortable! I especially loved Yellow Bar which also had nice staff and a variety of drinks to choose from.
Nice Hostel with good atmosphere and a nice bar to get to know other travellers. Clean facilities, friendly staff, I would come back again!
The best hostel I’ve ever been to! Especially the bar directly in front of the hostel was the best! Nice parties and events there thank you soooo much!
My friends and i went for 3 days and 2 nights, and we reaaally love the place, is near everything and near the metro station so is suuuper easy to move in rome!
We really enjoyed it our time in there.
The hostel location and facilities were very good and the activities organized by the hostel was the perfect way to make friends. Also the best thing was the bar of the hostel were you could have free pasta, meet new people and party every day.
The hostel is clean, comfortable, and has a grear social vibe
I had an excellent stay at Yellowsquare, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.
The staff were very friendly, thanks to the Lithuanian receptionist for her recommendations (I don’t know her name) and to Daniel for their welcome.
I paid about double that I usually pay for a hostel but I just wanted a good experience and to not worry about it. The staff was super great and helpful.
The room was ok, was happy with lockers and the safe. The bathroom was filthy unfortunately. There was some “short term” issues like big clumps of hair and other things that stuck around after a few days which isn’t pleasant. The thing that was surprising was all the dirt and stains on the walls. For the amount that was charged for the room I would have expected that to be cleaned.
I was in the waiting room until my check-in time and the room had the air conditioning turned up too high. I asked them to lower it but they told me that they couldn’t do it due to policy. Because of the very cold air, I got sick with the flu and a cough. I find it very inconsiderate towards the guests.
Such a lovely social place! The free pasta and welcome drink was wonderful and I met lots of nice people. Loved the spacious bunks with electricity.
Okay for 1 night, nice bar
Really friendly staff who go above and beyond to cater you stay. Prime location with lots of local amenities. Would deffo return and would recommend
Originally I planned to stay at another hostel, but missed any spaces, so I chose this one instead and did not regret it. I thought I may have been to old to stay at such a hip cool place but fit in absolutely fine. Reception staff were lovely. Cheap towel rental with a free little bag. A free beer on arrival, and free pasta and tortillas! Good random activities you can get involved with. Great bar. Beds are solid and don’t squeak or anything. Simple safe. Personally I don’t like the bathroom to be in the room, but oh well. Great location near to the train station. Walking distance to everywhere. Water fountain outside. All good really
I loved but in the night I Arrived i was really pissed that you were out of towels.
I loved the room, it was cozy, the sheets were clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable.
The location was also great, not far away.
The place is very lovely, everyone is helping, great vibes only my room was too small I booked with 4 sleeps.
Great place and facilities with kitchen, lounge and co-working space. The only thing I’d say is in my particular building there was only 1 toilet and 1 shower between 18 people. I went to another building in D and they had 3 toilets and showers for the same amount of people and in the reception building also had more.
It’s truly amazing at yellow square🥰
Amazing staff, great environment, the bar is super cool. Would visit again!!
Amazing time at yellowsquare, meeting people and having good times and memories.
thanks A lot
Way too expensive for this level of confort. Social areas are in a separated building from the dorms we were staying in, which does not invite to experience them that much…
Dorms are OK but still waaaaay too expensive for a hostel, shared bathroom are very low standard. I do not recommend if you are not in here for socializing
Nice play to stay, very convenient and good location
The people at the front desk were great. There was a mix up with the room that was a bit uncomfortable that they resolved very quickly
However, there was a man who came into the all female dorm pretty late at night to change a bed noone was sleeping it. That probably could have waited until morning.
Also I appreciated being able to leave my luggage there before check in.
Overall I didn’t stay long but it was fine.
Amazing vibes
The hostel is huge and has multiple locations depending on the type of dorm/room you have. Some rooms are bigger even though they are the same type (4 female dorm). Love that they have free pasta every day, but laundromat is way too small, not enough machines to use when it gets busy.
It would have been perfect if there’s curtain for individual bed.
The hostel is clean and the beds are very confortable. Good experience
First time in hostels and went with yellowsquare. Cant complain the social side of hostels is amazing but the dorms wasnt the best. The dorms at florence seem better than rome. Overall i was happy n would go back.
YellowSquare Rome is a really nice hostel! Less than 10min from the train station, which makes it easy when arriving. The staff is really welcoming and smiling, whether it is at the reception or at the bar. A lot of free activities are offered, as well as free pasta and a free drink on arrival. The dorms are clean, the only drawback is that since everything is in metal in the rooms (bed, lockers, chairs,…), it makes it difficult to be silent when coming late at night or leaving early in the morning. But that is only detail, if you want silence book a private room!
