YellowSquare Reviews: Rome
YellowSquare Rome is located a 10-minute walk from the city center and is a solo-traveler friendly base. We offer female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms for all types of travelers. If you need to get work done, Smartsquare is our professional coworking space. For food and social vibes, Yellow Bar is our main restaurant and events hub, while the Arcade hosts stand-up comedy and activities in the basement. It’s the perfect place to meet travellers, grab a drink, go for stroll with new friends and connect with our global community.
Experience in general was very good, location, staff, room. I was surprised that there were so many activities organized everyday (I wish I was so tired every day after my visits to come and join an event).
And though I feel that room very not very well isolated and at night noises in the street and hallways were very loud, I managed to have a good sleep every night.
The shower in my room was the only issue that upset me. The drain would block and a flood of water would collapse and over flow if you took a shower a bit too long, which it was also a bit disgusting having that drain blocked.
My previous experience in other hostels have not been so good but specially because of the other people in the room. So I was glad that during the whole week I had some very respectful quiet girls sharing the room with me. Even though the left the bathroom a bit filthy and wet, they were very nice and mindful of each other’s sleep.
I definitely would recommend yellowsquare!
Wow !!! I loved my stay at YellowSquare Rome, I had the best time. The place is clean, pretty and cool. Beds are comfortable, shared bathrooms are so clean, the kitchen is amazing with full equipment, free pasta/cereals and a big table to eat with other travellers. The YellowBar and the planned activities make it so easy to make new friends. And the staff is super nice. I totally recommend it to everyone!
Firstly, there’s mold in the hostel which you can see in the shower ceiling.
It’s there to such quantities that drinking water and sleeping in the bunks gave me allergies.
Secondly, my female dorm bathroom always had a smell because of bad ventilation and moisture.
Thirdly, you can find a better location in Rome, this hostel is kinda far from everything and anywhere closer to the river is better.
It’s kinda shady around the hostel at night so as a female solo traveler the hostel staff recommend me to come back around 7-8pm.
I’d say find another hostel
Booked this hostel cause of the location and price, also wanted to try out something out of my comfort zone. Slept in a 6 bed female only dorm and met some lovely girls with whom it was a pleasure to share the room. Great activities within the hostel and amenities as well – also the room was quiet during the night despite the parties which was a huge plus!
I had a great time overall, great staff great people a lot of variety in age nationality etc. Very good stay!
It was a nice welcoming hostel, the female dorm had plent of space.
Just a great time, if all hostels were like this then I’d never stay in a hotel.
Everyone was so incredibly friendly and welcoming! I was upgraded to a private room because of overbooking of 6-person rooms and it was the best surprise after a long day of travelling. Everything was extremely clean, the breakfast at Yellow Bar across the street was great and really reasonably priced, and I enjoyed a delicious cappucino with the free drink card.
This was my first time hostel experience travelling to a foreign country and I LOVED it.
YellowSquare offered everything a traveller could possibly need. From a bar which served excellent coffee and breakfast in the morning to various events organized in the evening. It is also well eqipped with kitchen, dining room, living room as well as laundry. Also, a big plus is that it is conviniently located, only a few minutes walk from Roma Termini (main bus/train station).
Finally, the staff at the reception are really nice and eager to help. A HUGE recommentation! I will for sure stay with them the next time I visit Rome, Milan or Florence.
The room was small and the amenities were nice enough. We didn’t splurge on a room because we knew we’d be out and about anyway, but I wouldn’t say the hostel nor the room were wonderful beyond the bare minimum.
I appreciated that there were some free food sharing baskets in the kitchen. The bathroom was kind of dirty. Everything was small and tight, but that’s to be expected. The location was nice being walking distance from the train station but far enough away that it felt a little bit safer.
Everything was great. Kitchen ,laundry facilities very clean. Customer service is great, they answer emails within minutes. Highly recommended
It’s has a great location, very comfortable rooms, and pretty cool activities
As a student studying abroad, this hostel made me feel safe and was welcoming. Complete with the lounge, and the bar just across the street (part of the hostel) there was always something exciting to come “home” to
When I checked in online i entered my passport details and I paid the city tax thing that’s required. I did that a few hours before I arrived at the hostel. When I arrived, the guy didn’t seem to care that I had checked in online, and I still needed to pull my passport out of my bag. That wasn’t as big of a deal. I can deal with that, but then he made me pay the city tax AGAIN. I told him I already paid it, and he said yeah yeah, this is different. Maybe he thought I was referring to already paying for the stay itself (which I also did). But he didn’t understand that I had paid city tax thing already. Reluctantly, I paid the 7 euros or whatever AGAIN but my interaction with this guy put things off to a rough start. I later looked at my credit card history and it indeed showed the two separate transactions for $7.62 USD.
I will give credit where credit is due, after a few days, the second charge was refunded without my asking, so thank you for that. But nonetheless it was still a frustrating process when I’m forced into a confrontational situation when first arriving at a place. I don’t like getting angry with people but it was hard for me not to be upset when someone is telling me I’m wrong when I KNOW that I’m right. I don’t know what exactly went wrong from a technical sense, but it seemed like the transaction from a few hours prior didn’t pop up on the guy’s screen when I checked in.
I don’t want to blame the employee, although he definitely could have handled it better, he remained calm and didn’t even come close to losing his temper. The information he had was simply wrong. And he acted as though he hadn’t considered that could be a possibility. He spoke to me like I was the one who was confused which irritated me.
I know the main focus of my review was my one negative experience, but everything else about my stay was positive
Long story short, I was intimated and assaulted by another guest. I came to find out upon my arrival back home that I was also drugged with various drugs. I do not remember a lot of what happened, i was told by my girlfriend who had been on video call with me l. I was threatened and had the information regarding my address, girlfriend, child questioned by said person. They made me bring them up to my room. My life was threatened, and I explained these very things to the workers at the hostel when a ran for help. ( keep in mind I was DRUGGED) so I can’t totally blame them for thinking I was just super drunk or something but I told them everything that happened and I was called a liar, told that everyone would be happier when I was gone, yelled at and all around treated poorly. Ultimately the police came and I was escorted back to my room to grab my belongings and took an uber to the airport where I ended up paying over 1200usd to change my flight 3 days early.
Great location, great staff, great options to help everybody
I had a female room 4p. The bed was not that well. The people working there are very friendly. Renting a towel voor €1,- is perfect. I got a bag with it, very nice.
Price / quality good get better
Very clean, many activities for every day, the have the laundry, the workspace, th kitchen, the bar and even a hairsalon! Staff very friendly and ready to help, also the reception desk is 24!
Definately reccommend.
The basin got stuck easily, overall is clean, but the mattress with sweat smell and too soft
Friendly staff, good price, well located, nice ,fun and good prices bar , laundry,
They gave you free drinks it was very social and i had a great workspace but the lockers didn’t work as well as the safe. I think it was great how many amenities were included with the bar, and the lounge. It was easy to sleep at night, even in a loud street.
Got a free beer coupon upon checkin which was nice and unexpected. The room was very clean and comfortable, aside from the humidity in the room. The temperature was surprising considered we stayed in November, which wasn’t a hot time. Running the AC made that go away, we just didn’t want to have to continuously run it. That was probably my only complaint about the room though. I’d happily stay here again.
Breakfast was poor. Bacon undercooked and eggs overcooked. Other dishes were bland.
Hostel room was nice but curtains on the beds would be good.
very friendly everyone there. I was traveling alone but i didn’t feel alone at any moment.
Yellowsquare Roma was everything I could have wanted and more in a first hostel experience. The staff were so friendly and actually interested in conversing with you. The scene is young, social and lively. I made friends within the first night and always had someone to talk to or do something with. I would return in a heartbeat!
ok to stay in rooms are good check in us 3pm which in my mind is way to late
Everyone who worked reception was extremely friendly. The bar was super cool and the lower prices with the wristbands really made it worth it to go every night! While there a part of our shower broke and maintenance was super quick to come fix it. The place was super clean and well-kept. Overall, my experience was amazing and I will definitely be staying with YellowSquare again if I’m ever in town.
YellowSquare was great! It is near the train station and the walk to the city centre is not bad. The shared spaces are nice and well kept. The dorms and bathrooms are good. Access to the bar across the street is a nice touch as well.
The yellowsquare rome is perfectly located, we could go everywhere easily by bus or metro. The hostel has different activities every night, it’s great for meeting other people. We would like to compliment Sabrina (from the reception), she was very welcoming and made us feel like home!
