Nice and spacious hostel but the beds were uncomfortable and loud
I loved my stay here. The staff were very kind and helpful, the room and en suite were clean and cozy, and the location is great! I would definitely stay here again.
I was really nervous about staying at a hostel, but the best decision I made for my solo trip to Rome was staying at the Yellow Square. It’s only a 10 minute walk to Termini Station and close to other sites as well. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. And I got to meet people there from all over the world that I became quick friends with. It was truly a great experience!
Is a good place with nice people.
Yellow Square Rome is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Europe. The atmosphere is super social but still comfortable — perfect whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with recommendations or bookings.
The rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean, and the beds are comfortable. The location is unbeatable — easy walking distance to Termini station, restaurants, and major attractions. The connected bar downstairs is a huge plus, great for meeting people and enjoying live music or events in the evening.
Overall, it’s got the perfect mix of fun, comfort, and convenience. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Rome!
The rooms were comfortable and well kept and the communal spaces were amazing and fostered great conversations! I especially loved the culture of the restaurant/bar!
The area of this hostel it’s really good, just 5 min about the Termini station. The rooms it’s clean. The little bad point is the laudry, 2 washing machine it’s too little compared to the number of rooms.
From tge moment I checked until I checked out everything was absolutely incredible. The bed and sheets were clean it’s a central location , highly social and events every night. The staff and stayers were all super sweet and helpful. So much someone definitely book again! The rooms are accessed with a key and beds have big lockers underneath . Everyone was super respectful of each other especially in the morning and night. 10/10 highly recommend best hostel I ever stayed at!!!
Had a good experience with YellowSquare Rome, beds and rooms were okay and clean, except for the bathroom in the six mixed dorm. Black moult everywhere, really gross, due to no ventilation.
I had a good experience here at Yellow. I arrived early and was able to store my luggage for free and chill out at their bar/cafe until my room was ready. There is plenty of space to hang out outside of the rooms, both if you are looking to socialize or if you prefer time alone. The kitchen is perfect with lots of space, kitchen supplies, basics for cooking, and everything is always clean. The dorms are nice and cozy and the bathrooms work just fine. There aren’t any curtains, but the girls in my room put up their extra sheet as a curtain. It is a 5-10 minute walk from Roma Termini, which has all the transportation you need to travel around the city.
I had a great time and it’s a decent location, loved that they gave you a welcome drink and pasta and the bar is a great way to meet friendly people but the room was extremely small and staying in the top bed is kinda uncomfy and loud, the bathroom was also really small and didn’t feel really clean.
Great place, safe, confortable and well located.
great structure and helpful staff, would definitely come back
I’ve been travelling London, Paris and Edinburgh, NY, recently, this hostel is the best so far.
The first thing I focus is the cleaniness, that’s 9/10.
The second is the security, 9/10, it provides the security locker, you just need to bring your own lock.(it’s small lock). Also there are some hangers. The bed there is no curtain that’s a bit unfortunate.
Also there is a dryer in the washroom, amazing! There is also a kitchen area, you can store your food here. (but someone may take your food, i got banana and croissant missed… could that person just buy by himself/herself :(((.) Location is also convenience, 10 mins to Termini by walking. If i have a second visit, I definitely will live there again:)))
Clean facilities. Fun atmosphere. Close to train station. Respectful staff. Overall great experience.
the staff was very kind and helpful. the common area was great and the kitchen had all the supplies needed. the breakfast was totally worth it. the bar was very welcoming and nice. room was very clean and the bed comfortable.
I stayed in both a private room & a dormitory during my trip. The private room was extremely small with little ventilation, and the dormitory was also very congested. Since we had chosen the most basic private room option, I’m unsure how to benchmark it against other rooms. When we moved to a dorm, my friend and I got allotted different dormitories. Despite having paid the same amount, one room was extremely spacious while the other was extremely congested. There should be a price difference between the two dorm bed rates. Kate at the reception was rude and unfriendly. When I complained about the inadequate ventilation in the dormitory, she seemed uninterested in trying to find a solution. She could have politely explained her constraints in helping me out, but instead, she chose to be rude and dismissive. Not worth the price. Location is good, but not worth the subpar facilities.
I was surprised how clean are the rooms, furthermore I received a 4 beds room instead of 8, which was perfect for me. And I was lucky enough that all my roommates were great and friendly.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Yellowsquare Rome. I met new friends and partied every night. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. The mattresses could use replacing. They’re sagging in the middle but still comfortable. One complaint is they turned the heat on so the rooms got very hot we had to sleep with the window open and its noisy ALL night. I recommend bringing a travel fan. The location is perfect – 5 min walk from Castro Pretorio and 10 mins from Termini. You can honestly just switch at termini and take the B to C. Pretorio.
The bar and activities provided were so much fun and engaging. Food and drinks were good too. I highly recommend this hostel and I’ll definitely be back.
I love Yellow with my whole heart. I’ve been twice now, and both times have been unforgettable. There’s just something about the energy there—the way the staff make you feel instantly welcome, the laughter echoing through the halls, and the friendships that somehow feel like you’ve known each other forever. Every visit, I’ve met people who’ve changed my trip for the better, but it’s the staff who truly make Yellow special. They remember you, they care, and they make it feel like home no matter how far you’ve traveled. Yellow isn’t just a hostel—it’s a feeling, a community, and a place you always want to come back to.
I was overall really pleased with this place and would recommend it to anyone who wants nightly opportunities to meet people from all over visiting Rome. The only reason I didn’t give YelloSquare a 10 is because it can be a tad difficult to fall asleep if your room is overlooking the usually noisy Yellow Bar
Breakfast is definitely worth-while!!! Look for Barista and they make best cappuccino.
The hotel is close to Termini station. My private room was pretty basic, but wasn’t expecting nothing too fancy. The main thing is that it was clean and confortable.
I was really positively surprised by this place — my stay was great!
What truly made the difference for me was the co-working space. I needed to work during my days in Rome, and it honestly exceeded my expectations: amazing internet (both there and throughout the hostel), quiet, respectful, and super comfortable.
The staff were also fantastic — always ready to help, and in every language possible!
I stayed in two different rooms, and while I think the price-quality ratio could be slightly better, it’s still fair for what Rome usually offers.
The location is excellent too: a calm area, very close to Termini Station, and you can walk everywhere in about 20 minutes.
Overall, it was a wonderful stay — I’d come back without hesitation!
The room was very dirty. The bed and sheets were clean but the walls, floor and bathroom were very dirty. The floors and walls were covered in stains that didn’t look like anyone tried to get them out. And the whole bathroom was dirty with boogers on the walls and dirt everywhere. It was all so 27 degrees outside with no AC being able to be turned on.
I solo travelled during my trip to Rome and stayed in a Yellow Square mixed dorm, I met some amazing people at the hostel bar that shaped my experience for the better! I couldn’t recommend it enough. The staff were friendly, helpful and made me feel very welcome 🙂
The staff were kind all the time and they speak more than one language which is useful. The rooms were good enough for our short stay in the city. The food at the bar was some kind of cheap for the quality it has.
The stay was good, the beds were very comfortable, and the locker to store your belongings was spacious (it fits a carry-on and a medium backpack easily). There was also an additional safe next to the bed area.
The only thing that could be improved is the bathroom cleanliness. We stayed for 4 nights, and they only changed the floor towels next to the shower. However, the floor was constantly dirty and full of hair, and the toilet was never cleaned. (it had a very strong smell throughout the entire stay).
Great vibes. Met good people. Had lots of fun.
The hostel has a great location and the rooms are nice.
The walls are really thin and the people in our floor where a bit loud sometimes.
but the overall experience was good and I would book the hostel again.
The staff is fantastic, the guests were friendly. I met nice people, enjoyed the free pasta (what you’d expect from free food), and appreciated a glass of wine as a welcome drink for free! I would have very much appreciated a non alcoholic option and discounts extended to N/A drinks as well. I felt like my best bet was to order alcohol because of the discounts, but I hadn’t drank in 6 months prior. It would be great to not encourage drinking so much, even though I understand that is a popular activity and does bring in great revenue.
There is a club/bar and you can hear the activities late into the night from the rooms. The bathroom was kind of nasty, lots of hair in corners, grimy floor and bathtub. The hallways didn’t seem to be cleaned daily. The beds were clean, so that was critical!
Overall, I’d stay again because of the great activities, people, and general atmosphere, but with a few small improvements, this could be an OUTSTANDING location. Thanks for everything!!
The activities Yellowsquare organized helped solo travelers like me to connect and feel that sense of community
Hostel is good. 5 min walking distance to termini to catch any metro or bus. Amenities and rooms are as mentioned in description. Breakfast is okay.
Colosseum: Take 75 number bus from Indipendenza (3-4 min walking distance from hostel)
Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona: Take 87 number bus from Colosseum to Corso.
Trastevere: Take 75 number bus
Spanish Steps: Take metro line A from termini. Exit at spagna. Just 400m walking distance.
From destination in rome, if you are going back to hostel, just take 75 or 492 bus.
I quite enjoyed this hostel! Clean, and nice ppl. I booked rather quickly without checking out ammenities and it would’ve been really nice if the front desk ppl had mentioned there’s a kitchen etc etc. I didn’t find that out till the day I left when I put my luggage in storage. That’s all!
so friendly, so social, such cool vibes. loved it
Overall a great experience just the wifi was not working properly. It kept logging me off
The facilities were good, not great. For example the bathroom was very tiny with no mirror. The noise from outside (bar downstairs) was extremely loud every night, they offer ear plugs but I’m surprised this is allowed in this neighborhood where people live in the same building and next door. The location was ok, close the Termini station but far from just about everything else so I spent a lot of time taking the bus and metro everywhere.
