YellowSquare Reviews
YellowSquare is more than a hostel; it’s an international community designed for travelers who want to connect, work, and hang out. Across our locations in Italy and Greece, we provide female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms, alongside working spaces and daily activities. Definitely not a boring hostel. From working over a coffee to evening events in our venues, we create a active atmosphere where locals and travelers meet and make friends. Every YellowSquare is a gateway to the city, focused on social vibes and the right place to meet people.
I think it was one of the bests hostels I’ve ever stayed in, the people were nice, the hostel is well equipped and clean! But it is at least 20 minutes walking to the city center. It was pretty hot when I was in Firenze and this 20 min walk was tiring but the good thing is that it has a tram stop right in front of the hostel and it is easier to get to the city center with it!
Since the moment I arrived the manager (Monica) helped me with my luggage and the staff (Ale and Epi) made me feel right at home. I came to Firenze for work and stayed at the Yellow for a total of two weeks so I got a good feel for this hostel. The staff are absolutely amazing! They are all so friendly, approachable, and hospitable. The hostel is very new, clean, and not lacking in things to do because besides from the beautiful city they always organize new social events weekly. It is very central to the plaza, museums and galleries and it is in a very nice neighbourhood. I met other guests that were travelling with a friend or solo and most of them were young from late teens to thirties, as a young female travelling solo I always felt safe and would definitely recommend!
Great Hostel, I can’t say a bad thing about it. There were just two, three things that bothered me some.
The Pool on the rooftop was nice and refreshing, the hostel quiet and clean even though there was a party going on in the basement. The beds are sturdy and solid, so even though you may feel your bunkmate move, it is minimal.
My few points that were not ideal are the following:
A tray in the shower to put your shampoo bar and shower bar, as currently the only place is the floor, which is a no for me.
The bathroom in the second room I was in (216) was really likely to flood, so maybe the seal wasn’t water tight.
The AC was set veeery low, especially considering that it was about 40 degrees outside, so my buttocks were a bit cold, especially at night (but that was just a minor inconvenience).
Overall, the space to put down things in the hostelroom was a bit limited.
Maybe have one or two more shelvesin the room where the guests can put their clutter, such as Toiletry Bags?
We stayed just for one night in a private quadruple room with our boys (12 + 16) and we loved it! Very nice staff, clean rooms, nice affordable food, great setting and perfect view over the city by the roofpool (which was of course a big hit with 3degrees!)
Rooms were spacious (with a balcony) and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the overall atmosphere is great. The rooftop pool and bar/nightclub is great and is in an ideal location. Will be back!
I think the overall place needs to be more relaxed – it has this strange hospital vibe to it.
Rooms are very small for the amount of people and show floods – curtains on each bed will help this.
The ‘garden’ wasn’t ready yet – I hope once it’s up and running it will provide a tranquil sitting area amounts many plants and away from the loud busy road.
Staff are all very lovely and provide high level customer service
Everything about this stay was great, truly enjoyed Yellow Square Florence. Lots of activities and happenings. Best thing was the rooftop with the pool.
My stay at yellowsquare was super nice, definitely a really nice hostel with a very nice social vibe.
The most well equipped hostel I’ve visited. Very large rooms, powerful air conditioning and wonderful rooftop pool. Large kitchen with good burners but very few cooking implements (no knives, few spatulas, no slotted spoons, only one pan). Great lounge area — the cocktails are $6 though which is more expensive than restaurants in Florence. Staff is very courteous, professional and helpful.
Great room, modernity everywhere, the hostel is reaally nice and confortable.
Bed are greats, good organization for the stuffs and luggages.
However, I thought that it will be more in the center of Florence.
My roomates were very unpleasant, wake up me in the middle of the night, speaking loud, drunk. Disrespecting but not your fault… 🙂
Super fun, the staff was extremely helpful
Cold water, nice cold rooms, luggage keep and super fun atmosphere.
To put it simply it was incredible. The staff were super friendly and approachable. The atmosphere was fun and sociable. There was never a dull moment. My room was clean and always had air conditioning. There were free activities available for everyone. I want to come back every year. Genuinely. The manager is such a cool lady. I want to be like her and the staff were always so approachable and kind.
As a solo traveller I found it was really easy to connect with people there. There was an activity each night I was there which was really cool. The rooftop pool was good for relaxing in the late afternoon. And the staff were all so friendly and helpful.
This was such an awesome, accommodating hostel. From the start the staff were super friendly. As we arrived we were met at the front door with ice cold water as it was a very hot day. They answered all my questions and even helped me switch rooms (hassle-free) due to me wanting a bottom bunk. The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable and the lockers had ample space and felt secure. My first room did not have a properly functioning aircon so it got pretty hot, but my second room did and it worked great.
The rooftop pool and entry bar were also super cool.
We stayed in the room for 3 nights. But our shower was broken and our whole room was wet after showering. After that we got a worse r room.
Normally when something like this Happens a hotel gives you a better room.
Overall I had an incredible experience at this hostel as a solo traveler. The hostel is incredibly social, the kitchen is very nice (could use some more utensils/supplies), and the staff is generally very helpful and kind. The rooftop pool is an incredible addition to the hostel and the rooms overall are very nice. The biggest downsides are the bathrooms and the location. The bathrooms are a little cramped and get dirty very easily. Water is standing on the bathroom floor most of the day. But, can easily be fixed with more regular cleaning (overall everything is very clean, just the bathroom shared by 8 people gets dirty too easily). Location wise, there is very little in the immediate area – a couple of average restaurants/bars around the corner, but otherwise the majority of city life and attractions are about a 40 minute walk or 30 minutes by tram/walking. I ended up spending a lot more time at the hostel than usual because of this, but that was okay because I met a lot of incredible people here and had a great time at the bar/pool/club etc. It is a fantastic hostel, just know you may have to plan your trips into the city a little more than usual.
The hostel was practically brand new when I stayed there and you can tell it was purpose built meaning everything makes sense for the most part. It has a pool and a pool bar that opens late afternoon. There is a bar in the reception area as well that includes a discount if you are a guest at the hostel. The bed was comfortable. The bathrooms were nice overall. What boggles my mind though is why the shower stall has an open space at the bottom where all the water splashes out onto the rest of the bathroom floor when you shower. If I had to guess I’d say it’s designed that way for easier cleaning, but annoying if you want to use the toilet and the whole floor around it is soaked from someone who just took a shower. Overall this is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at, period. I’ve stayed in probably close to 100. The pool and the bar are very conducive to socializing which is one of the main reasons I like hostels.
My best friend and I stayed here and had so much fun! The hostel staff are so friendly and there are fun, free activities to do every day. It’s in a good location close to the tram which takes you straight to the downtown area and the train station! Absolutely loved it
The hostel looks brand new and amazing! Location is great and helps me in reaching that daily stepcount target. Staff is super friendly and helpful. And I was pleasently surprised at how vigilant and dillegent the night staff was as well. Yvan in particular was fantastic, always ready to help. Not only was he friendly but is also attentive, it’s the little details that count.
Overall amazing place
My first stay at yellow square was so so great!
Really nice and clean modern facility which had many amenities. The rooftop pool and bar with a hostel discount was amazing to have access to (especially as I was visiting in the hot summer months) and overall was pretty simple to get to the city centre via the railway stop close by.
The evening events made it super easy to network and I ended up making great friends and contacts here. Already booked my yellow square stay in Milan!
Only added feature I wish they had was a on-site laundry facility but highly recommend staying here if you’re an energetic traveller looking to meet people!
I really liked staying in YellowSquare in Florence. The whole experience was terrific, from the room to the activities, the staff, the food, and the pool on the rooftop. Definitely will be coming back!
We had a great stay.
The rooms were great, the staff was lovely, and the rooftop pool was definitely a highlight. I loved that we could scan a barcode with the hostel’s recommendation for food, activities and more. The environment was warm and inviting. The check in and check out was a smooth experience.
Definitely my favourite hostel so far, even rebooked for the one in Milan!! Extremely clean, comfortable, modern, amazing activities happening every night and every facility you could need! Can’t forgot the pool which is just amazing and a great place to meet people! Location for me was also good but I do enjoy a walk and if you don’t the tram is 2 minutes away! Would definitely stay again!
I really enjoyed my stay at Yellowsquare Florence! The staff is very nice, the night activities were fun and the pool was my personal highlight!
Yellowsquare is my favourite hostel in Italy so far by a mile. The vibe in the hostel was great as a solo traveller looking to meet new people. Events held everyday and a nice outside area, bar area and rooftop pool. Staff helpful and always on hand. Rooms clean and spacious. SUPER COMFY BEDS. The only minor thing would be location as it is slightly outside the main area of Florence where most of the tourist hotspots are.
Would definitely recommend/stay here again.
The hostel was great but the staff was so amazing that it upgrated the whole experience to the next level
I highly recommend the yellowsquare hostel. A lot of opportunities to meet people. Watching the sunset in the pool on the rooftop bar was amazing.
Good breakfast room very comfortable and clean and good air conditioner which was a must in July
This is by far the best hostel. The staff is AMAZING. they are helpful, friendly, and show genuine interested in solving your needs and making your stay the best as possible.
I’d stay here when I come back to Florence.
We booked a private room and we were obliged to chance three time of our room (at the -1/basement level), each time for a different problem :
-> bathroom with the water flowed back from the shower,
-> another room we tried had its A/C which didn’t work well (very noisy event when it was off..)
-> then another room where each time you take a shower, it creates a swimming pool in the whole bathroom, until the bedroom part!
+ generally speaking the rooms weren’t so clean (toilet dirty / hairs in the bathroom..)
