YellowSquare Reviews: Florence
YellowSquare Florence provides female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms. We have an easy working space in the shared areas where you can grab a coffee and work at the tables before or after check-in. For daily activities and food, Barmezzo has a restaurant and events every day like karaoke, quizzes, and beerpong. Bargiu is where the cool events happen featuring live music, dj sets and stand-up comedy that brings together locals and travelers. During the summer, you can head up to Barsu, our rooftop pool bar where social parties take place with a view.
I stayed in a room on the floor 0, and unfortunately, I was right above the club, which I didn’t know until I heard the noise. It was unbelievably loud. It’s surprising that you allow guests to sleep in that room while parties are hosted by the hostel. I think you should reconsider that, and at the very least, be kind and upfront with the guests staying on floor 0 when they check in.
Otherwise, everything was fine, free pasta, the activities, the low-cost towel rentals, and luggage storage are great.
Horrible
The prices are great, every day are new activities and events if you feel like it.
It’s not too far from the city center and the staff is incredibly nice & helpful.
Literally had the best time ever! Staff was super friendly, the events were LOTS of fun, I met so many amazing friends, the room was really clean and overall it‘s a super modern hostel. Will for sure be back!! The pool was also one of my favourite things about it! Great for socialising:)
Best Hostel for socializing and the staff is very helpful
The hostel was amazing! It has a pool, a clean and modern kitchen area, many common spaces to work / talk, a rooftop bar, cheap drinks, every room has its own bathroom and the beds have enough space to plug your phone/store everything you need at night. Just amazing!
Overall was good- beds were clean, nice atmosphere and fun activities, but toilet flooded after showers and stayed wet and there was no bin in the toilet only
under the sink which wasn’t ideal as I needed to dispose of menstrual products. Staff were friendly and helpful and the basement club was good fun.
Had some of the most fun in the 2 months ive been in europe!!!! Lovely staff, lots of activities and great way to meet other travellers! Free pasta every night was a life saver for the wallet and my stomach! Only wish the club downstairs was open a few nights a week more! Highly recommend staying here
The stay was super good. The room was really good equipped. Also the bed was so comfortable and everything overall was perfect. Really good hostel. And the free pasta???? PERFECT. Thank you.
I loved your bar, terrace, tennis table, smiling staff, automatic washing machines, pool… I really want to come back, just to stay in the hostel!!!
I had the worst experience in this place.
I loved the pool and club especially because were there for the weekend, the availability to bars social life and experiences close to the city was perfect for us
I have stayed in many hostels in many European cities, but this one is the best. Yellowsquare Hostel placed me in an air-conditioned room with five other women my age who were all leaving on the same day. This was perfect and led to many great conversations and friendships. The room came with a bathroom and a large locker, which was appreciated. The free pasta was great. The rooftop pool was incredible. The happy hour drinks were amazing. The patio and frequent social activities were so fun. As a solo traveller on a budget, you dream for a hostel like Yellowsquare to help you make friends and see the city without spending a fortune. I will be back at Yellowsquare next time I am in Italy.
It’s the kind of hostel you never forget, I’m gonna come back there if I ever go back to Florence, everything was perfect, the hostel itself was really nice like clean and pretty, got a pool, staff was nice, people staying there were so nice too, I never made that much friends in a hostel, free pasta every night, really cheap drinks and a lot of activities ! Really I enjoyed it a lot, couldn’t recommend it more !
The hostel is cute with lots of activities and friendly staff. The free pasta from 8-9pm everyday is amazing! The hostel was pretty full & areas like the pool were very crowded almost at all times. We had a 8 people mixed dorm and there was one small bathroom (not lockable) per dorm with small toilet and shower cabin. As a woman I felt like there was not a good spot to change. The cleanliness in the bathroom was not great and there was stuff lying everywhere from people that I believed weren’t even staying there anymore. The beds are metal so pretty loud but comfy.
Unfortunately we had some health issues during our trip and needed to change our booking last minute to a private room. The only room left at Yellowsquare would have been 140€/night. We decided to book a room at a hotel nearby for less than half the price. The Yellowsquare staff was friendly but not accomodating when we had to leave 2 nights before our original booking ended and made no effort in refunding even a small part of the price we paid, not even the tourist tax. I understand that technically Yellowsquare was in the right and it was our own fault for leaving but I would have appreciated a more accomodating guest experience especially for the price we paid.
Pool on the rooftop, night club on the last floor, staff was always helpful, nice beds, storage before check-in, amazing vibes. Rooms
I loved my stay at YellowSquare Firenze. Best hostel I have ever been to, so far.
– The rooms are well equipped and clean
– There is a rooftop pool and a sort of club (Bargiù), which are huge assets
– The atmosphere is super chill and friendly (staff and people) with lots of events organized (pool parties, karaoke nights etc)
– The place is not located far from the city center (20 minutes walk to get to the train station, and form there, 10 min to Duomo) and its location is appropriate to party (without disturbing neighbors).
I would recommend 100% this hostel. I am now heading to the one in Milano, hope it is as great as this one !
Overall I would recommend this hostel. People were friendly and the staff was helpful. Of course the rooftop pool is a great bonus. I booked a mixed room of 6 and was a little annoyed to find my room was RIGHT next to reception and the bar. Not even 10 steps away. It was so loud at night when I was trying to sleep.
Super clean rooms, bed was practically already made, the shared kitchen had all of the supplies we needed (although a bit short on cutlery), and the bar was very nice!
The best hostel I’ve been to in a long time. Super social, lots of activities, and the best part: the pool and the club.
My stay at yellowsquare florence was incredible, I loved the athmosphere, the activities organized… the room were really clean and comfortable.
It was a nice and clean hostel and the staff was nice. However, the ac didn’t work in the room I stayed in. Which was just not okay and then everytime it was told to the staff they kept saying we will look at it. But not once during my entire stay did they even come look at the ac. For the price I payed it should have worked. The activities were fun but it kinda seemed like it was hard to get people to join.
It was a comfortable stay, I enjoyed that each bed got their own personal safe, the pool is small but refreshing. Very loud at night, would not recommend if you have early mornings and need to get sleep before your day.
Dear YellowSquare Florence Team,
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my check-in experience at your hostel on August 2, 2025.
I arrived at the hostel at approximately 4:00 PM, which is slightly after the official check-in time of 3:00 PM. I was one of the earlier arrivals that afternoon. During check-in, I politely asked the receptionist(Denise Deputy) if it was possible to be assigned a lower bunk bed and preferably on a higher floor. She responded that typically such preferences need to be noted at the time of booking, and that lower bunks were likely already reserved. Nonetheless, she offered to check the availability. After a short pause, she told me there were none available. A few seconds later, she checked again and repeated that no lower bunks or higher-floor beds were available.
However, that evening I discovered that in Room 103, where I was assigned, there were only three guests in total, and at least two lower bunks were unoccupied. I took a photo at 12:52 AM, clearly showing the vacant lower bunks and by the next morning, the same bunks were still unused. Moreover, I checked the Booking.com app , and the room type I booked still showed five rooms (or beds) available for that day. I also spoke with other guests and staff, who confirmed that the current occupancy rate is around 50%, suggesting there were many vacant beds, including lower bunks and higher floors’.
Therefore, the receptionist’s statement that no lower bunks were available appears to be unreasonable and inaccurate. As a solo female traveler from China, this experience made me question the professionalism of the front desk staff and led to discomfort and unease, especially since my request was reasonable and made politely.
Furthermore, on the morning of August 3, I approached the same receptionist(Denise deputy)again and politely asked if I could move to a lower bunk. I also mentioned that the night before, two lower bunks in my room had clearly not been occupied, despite her telling me they were unavailable.
She did not directly respond to the contradiction I pointed out, but simply said, “I have to check, I have to check.” After checking, she confirmed that a lower bunk was now available. However, she then told me that I needed to clean the bed myself before moving. I was honestly surprised and thought I might have misunderstood, since cleaning beds is normally the responsibility of housekeeping staff, not guests but she still said that I needed to clean the beds bed myself.
I repeated to her that the lower bunk had never been used, and was clearly unoccupied the entire time. Therefore, no cleaning was necessary. Still, I felt her response and handling of the situation were inappropriate and unprofessional, especially for a hospitality setting.
I would sincerely appreciate an explanation of the following:
Why was I told that no lower bunks were available when they clearly were?
Was this a miscommunication, a mistake, or some other internal policy not communicated to guests?
Please find below the relevant details:
Booking Number: 10…
If necessary, I am also able to provide more evidence of this case.
I want to express that I do enjoy the environment at YellowSquare Hostel and find most of your staff very friendly and helpful. However, I do hope this issue can be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
F. M.
We loved this hostel. The atmosphere was really enjoyable. The free pasta were a nice thing when you travel on a budget ! Very clean. I’ll definitely be back.
All staff members were genuinely eager to help.
Auch an Amazing Hostel! Very clean, the Food an ambiance is great. Loved the pool and all the activities!
I had a great time. The pool is a great place to meet people and the pasta is very convenient.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished.
Got a room on ground floor
All the noise kept coming in rooms until 2 am
The AC on whole ground floor was down and the reception did not let me know when i checked in. Spent a night in a hot room and got no concession for it.
Next day i had to pack everything check out at 10 and check back in for a room on 3rd floor instead.
The first room i had, bidet was broken and rooms are also a bit small.
The rooms got cleaned daily, my room got a own bathroom with shower, shampoo, toilet, storage for toothbrush etc.. Really social hostel and every day a cool activity. And free pasta from 8-9pm!
Since my first visit in May of 2024 I’ve come back here many times. The friendly atmosphere, three bars and rooftop pool make it such a fun stay. The location is perfect and I really appreciate the planned activities.
The actual hostel was great, the beds were comfortable me and ample locker space. The free dinner was also a nice bonus. However, the pool was closed for a whole day ‘for maintenance’ while I was there which was annoying, because I had only booked this hostel for it. There seemed to be no maintenance happening. There is also space for a curtain to be put on – it would make the rooms that bit better!
The hostel was very social, everyone was very friendly and I quickly made friends as a solo traveler which was great! The rooftop pool and bar were lovely and the room was nice, amazing vibes. Only thing I’d say is it’s a bit far from the city, but there were regular buses.
I stayed for five days in Florence, and this was a great hostel: the staff’s members are doing their job perfectly and there is nothing to say about the provided services. That’s perfect for me !
If one improvement could be done, it would be concerning the washing of the dishes in the kitchen. Nothing really concerning, but I never found any towel to dry my personal dishes during my stay.
That’s the only thing I could think about : I spent good nights and ate good food in this good hostel, that I absolutely recommend.
Facilities, amazing. Staff, amazing. BUT the people I met who stayed at the hostel, wonderful, stunning, beautiful souls. Keep up the atmosphere that you create. It allows us to connect with one another from all walks of life, and that is the most important thing you could do whilst travelling.
I had a wonderful stay!! Only thing I would wish for would be courtains on the beds for more privacy. Loved my stay!!
The place was great
YellowSquare was a great base during the July heat, with cool rooms and a social roof terrace. Staff was helpful and everything was clean and well organised. Perfect hostel, not in a busy area but easily accessible.
