YellowSquare Reviews: Athens
In the center of Athens, YellowSquare offers female-only dorms, shared dorms, and private ensuite rooms. To get work done, our Wowork coworking space provides a quiet space and dedicated areas for video calls. Zero Bar is our spot for breakfast, drinks, and constant social activities, while Aura Rooftop Bar is the place to watch the sunset and grab a drink with other travelers. It offers a 360-view of the city and the Acropolis skyline, making it a great open-air lively space. Guests also have access to the SoulGood workout space, like a simple gym and can join free dance lessons to stay active and meet people.
I highly recommend for travellers, the staff were very helpful. They tried to arrange activities to encourage other backpackers to get to know each other. Good menu options for breakfast and food throughout the day.
All god
I stay for 2 nights in the hostel. All super good.
Really enjoyable night. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I did get told I was too old for a dorm though 🤣. No problem as I upgraded to a private room with a bathroom still reasonably priced. Will definitely stay again but when it’s a bit busier so I can really make use of the top bar. Thanks YellowSquare staff 😎
Everything was alright .
We’ve stayed at the Yellowsquare hostel for a week and it was great. Everyone behind the reception and bar is really kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and new, and even soap en shampoo were provided. The zero bar was a nice place to have a drink and meet new people, or to grab a quick bite. Moreover, the location of the hostel is great. All around are great bars, restaurants and it’s next door to the market hall.
Had a good time at YellowSquare Athens, room was spacious , had all the amenities. Location was close to the center, which is important as a traveler.
Would come again for sure!!
If you’re a solo backpacker wondering “Will I actually meet people here?” — the answer is YES, and Moe and Markos are a huge reason why.
Moe at reception is an absolute legend. He runs the front desk like a pro, even when it’s packed with arrivals, questions, and chaos. He’s amazing with people, keeps the vibe friendly and organized, and somehow remembers everything and everyone. Need tips, help, directions, or just a friendly face after a long travel day? Moe’s got you. He makes you feel welcome from the second you walk in — which is huge when you’re traveling alone.
And then there’s Markos behind the bar… wow. Not your average hostel bartender at all. This guy seriously knows his mixology and makes some of the best cocktails I’ve had on the road. The bar instantly becomes the social hub thanks to him — great drinks, great energy, and the perfect place to meet other travelers without it feeling forced or awkward.
Because of Moe and Markos, this hostel feels less like a place to sleep and more like a little community. If you’re backpacking solo and want good vibes, good people, and unforgettable nights, this place delivers. Would 100% stay here again.
The hotel very good brand new
Exlent location near for everything you want
the room very clean and modern
the stuff’s very friendly and helpful
i recommend any one wanna visit Athena
Amazing!
I travelled with a friend. Our room was clean, and cleaned every day.
We received welcome drinks at the beautiful bar with view of the acropolis
And they have free interesting events happening all week to get to know people!
staff/volunteers there were super nice and we had great conversations with them.
Only downside is its in a slightly dodgy area, and the kitchen was a bit dirty when I used it
It has a beautiful view, and all the staff are extremely friendly and efficient, not to mention the unbeatable location, which is very central and close to all the tourist attractions.
Staff, security, comfort A++
Exceeded my expectations. The room as clean, the staff was so helpful and friendly, and the social events schedule were impressive even though we didn’t actually end up participating. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Athens.
Hostel was clean with comfortable bed, good showers and good breakfast options at reasonable cost. I had a private room as over 45 (30 years over) and it was equal to a hotel room. Rooftop bar and activities are a bonus. Location was great, within walking distance of metro, sites and restaurants
Thank you very much for helping me in a moment when I was feeling sick! You really went above and beyond.
Like always, YellowSquare offers great vibes and you feel like you belong among “strangers”. I would choose this place any day.
Nice, well-designed spaces with lots of coworking areas. The first floor is open all night and has good social vibes. Kitchen area was social, and there are many activities. Staff were friendly and helpful — even lent me supplies to fix a zipper.
Downsides: wifi was weak, the gym had no weights, and the kitchen and rooftop close too early. It can also get chilly at night.
Good, central location. The area has some abandoned buildings but felt safe. Bonus: lots of resident cats.
The staff are amazing and helpful! We really enjoyed our time there.
We did have one issue (not your fault at all) but our some of our food that was named for stolen/eaten from the fridge so I thought I would let you know about that. But that’s not on you.
Central location, well functioning desk, nice and simple room, silence at night and a great rooftop bar. When it comes to simply having a place to sleep, along with the opportunity to meet other people in the evenings, this was the best hostel I’ve been to.
It was a perfect stay ! Reception are really nice and smile ! The rooms are great, and the rooftop has the best view on the city !
Dear Yellowsquare team,
You are a great team, you always smile to the customers and always helpful.
Love you all, for sure I’ll come back, it’s a threat.:):)
Good evening and Merry Christmas to all!
The staffs were very polite welcoming . We were even given room upgrades for the same price we’ve paid . It was a lucky day for us. Breakfast was great for a very affordable price compared to any other restaurants .
It was my first time staying at a hostel and Yellowsquare Athens was the perfect choice. The staff were very kind and helpful (even for unique needs such as praying), the room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and the balcony and rooftop view were fantastic add-ons. The piece is quite affordable as well.
Overall everything was clean and nice.
I stayed in the 4-bed girls room (in the middle bed). I felt like there was less space around my bed than the others.
The bathroom door closed/opened quite loudly, it was impossible to not make noise with it. I was a bit annoyed with this because if you arrive or leave while the others are still asleep, then there was no way to avoid the noise.
I arrived also with a larger suitcase that I used for work-related items. I chose the hostel partially because online it said that there is a storage room available. During check-in, I also discussed it with the staff and they didn’t make an objection. However, a few hours later on when I came down from my room to put the suitcase in the storage room, the same exact staff member made it an inconvenience and said that “we usually don’t accept luggage for a long period of time and it’s also large” etc, my stay was 2 nights… I was quite disappointed to hear them refuse it. They could have just said it’s full or something, this was just them not wanting it/caring. I mean, if you have shared rooms, then it would be reasonable to be able to hold a luggage case for 2 days
Could acutally work in working space, Kitchen large, Roof top with view in Akropolis.
Room clean everything functioning (shower etc.) would stay always when in Athens.
It was a great stay, while the area seems a bit sketchy it has many great hidden gems of restaurants and shops you don’t expect to run into.
The room was very comfortable with great big cushions on the bed and the shower was also amazing. With free use of the air conditioning and access to a balcony, I was very happy with the autonomy given to keep myself happy.
The bar upstairs was great open space and amazing view of the city and acropolis.
The other shared spaces were also very nice, I didn’t stay in them but the coworking and and reception area looked comfortable and clean for anyone just wanting to sit and relax a little.
Convenient spot needs no more words. The staff are so nice and the balcony is the best gift I could have in Athens. Every single morning there is wonderful and the welcome drink on the rooftop is even more attractive. Stunning view of Acropolis and the best whether in Athens, how can I ask more?
very helpful staff, fun events, nice looking building and very convenient location
got a private room when we booked for a 4 people room! staff were extremely kind and helpful, and the man serving breakfast offered to give me ice when I filled up my water bottle.
The location and room were great. However, the bathroom flooded and did not properly drain and the cleaners constantly opened the windows to allow all the mosquitos inside, also when I left a note.
Finally, the wristband system is somewhat dangerous, especially for solo travelers. This is essentially informing the outside world where you are staying.
The Friday night at the bar was also simply creepy.
A wonderfully located accommodation right in the city center.
The rooms are well-equipped for maximum comfort.
The atmosphere is perfect, and the staff are very friendly.
Our stay in yellowsquare was fantastic! You might think the area was a bit sketchy but it really isnt!! Their location is very walkable to most tourist spots in Athens..It’s a 5-10 minute walk to Monastiraki Square and Monastiraki train station(which connect to the airport)…I also love their rooftop bar where you can watch sunset while drinking wine..
It was a great stay. It was in a central location and hosted great activities on a daily basis. The rooftop bar with an excellent view of the city was the cherry on top.
a clean comfortable room in a good location with several great restaurant options close by. I think the option of a breakfast buffet would go a long way to improving the atmosphere.
Good and recommenced every one to experience this beautiful property and specially roof top bar and restaurant
The overall stay was very pleasant!
The staff was amazing, the facility was very good, a few flaws on house keeping, there was a strong sewage smell in the room when I checked in but I think it’s a problem of the city and location.
The breakfast was good, waiting time can be improved, the honey that is served with the breakfast was a little waaaay too much so they always end up in the garbage and it’s heart breaking to waste an ingredient that is expensive such as honey.
It was a week of joy. Everyone was so friendly, I felt at home. I was able to work in peace and quiet in the morning, and it was perfect to return to the beautiful terrace after a full day in beautiful Athens. The food was delicious, the service was 200%, and everything was clean.
