This is a kind of unique review i’m leaving, I stay at yellowsquare in rome in a hostel dorm, I’ve always enjoyed hostal dorms, always cheaper, fun to meet people, there is noise to be expected its a hostel but on my first night after midnight the Police walk in with someone who was staying in the bed below me, about 5 officers told us not to worry and when they started searching the mans suitcase they kept saying look for knifes, this went on for about 5 minutes and then they took him away and told us not to worry, we were all very confused, i texted the front desk and no one got back to me so walked over, theres a lot of people at yellowsquare so i dont expect them to be across everything, people are always gonna make a bit of noise but police looking for knifes was weird and the reciption said they knew and told me not to worry because the police said it was fine, i came back and told everyone, we tried to get back to sleep and the arrested guy turned up again at 4/5am after being released, i had a week booked there but stayed art another hostel the day after this because i didnt feel too safe, the social setting here with the chance to meet people is great but i felt they really failed in just turning up with the police just to see the situation about knifes and also letting the guy back in felt a bit weird, i hate to write a negative review but feels a bit weird having like 4 officers awake a dorm to arrest someone a look for knifes and to just be its fine, a lot of the front desk were nice and helpful but that night it felt like they wrote me off a bit.
Everything i said above. The staff was exceptional, amenities were perfect, location could not be better, food was good and reasonably priced. Activities were fun! Easy to interact and staff was always helpful. Accommodations were perfect! Extra showers was really helpful too! Especially if you had to get up early and disnt want to make a lot of noise.
The room environment is good, and the hotel staff provide attentive service
The location in Athens Greece was very good. We walked to all of the famous sites. The room had a balcony facing a building- that was a plus, the rooftop bar had a good view of the city and the cost was affordable. Those are the only positives we could think of.
I didn’t realize I booked a shared bathroom room until we got there, that was a major issue. All of the negatives (too many to list) didn’t get us down because we enjoyed the city, people and food.
This was a nice property! The dorm rooms are nice, but was not aware it was only one bathroom per room, not just communal bathrooms. Overall a good experience.
Very clean, pretty quiet, helpful staff. I appreciated the complimentary earplugs and santizing wipes. My only thing is that it’s A. bit far from all the sights and neighborhoods one would typically visit in Rome… nothing you can do about that though, and the pro is that you’re close to the train station. Not A. sketchy area by any means!
The staff wasn’t really helpful at all. I was expecting something better than being rude.
There’s was very loud construction in my building everyday and I’m very disappointed that for such an expensive place to stay… there was no pre warning about this before booking. I would not have been willing to pay so much if I knew this was happening.
It was good, I’d just change the bathrooms design bc it was kinda difficult to get dressed without getting wet after a shower

I had the perfect experience at YellowSquare Roma during my solo trip to Rome!
From the moment I arrived, I felt really welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere is amazing for solo travellers, social and lively when you want to meet people, but you can also have your own space when you need some time for yourself.
The location was also perfect for exploring Rome, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. I especially loved the vibe of the hostel: it feels much more like a community than just a place to sleep.
As a solo traveller, I really appreciated how easy it was to meet people and feel part of something, even though I was travelling alone. I also loved the common areas and the overall energy of the place.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place for my first solo trip to Rome. I would absolutely stay at YellowSquare again and highly recommend it to anyone travelling solo! 🇮🇹❤️
Had a really nice stay there. The beds where phenomenal and the building itself was cool.
Staying at the Yellow square was super fun, convenient and comfortable! This place has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and make the most out of the trip

The neighborhood was noisy tho
Great little hostel. I only stayed here for 1 night but everything was perfect. The bed was comfortable and had a curtain for privacy. Kitchen was well equipped and they had a lounge area and garden. The proximity to Termini train station was the best thing 👌 I would definitely stay here again if I was to come back to Rome 💚 Oh and they have free pasta in the evening 😀

The rooms/beds and bathroom were very nice, and it felt like a safe area and environment. Our only small issues were that it was pretty far (about 30 min on semi-reliable public transport) from all the main tourist attractions, which was a little inconvenient for just a weekend trip, and that the bar (which seemed to kind of be the only one in the area) felt like it was disproportionately populated by older men (like over 40), which made us a little uncomfortable as two 20-year old women. I think anyone slightly older than us (like mid-late twenties) would probably feel just fine, but as young adults we definitely felt like we were significantly lowering the average age in the room.
We stayed for two nights during our visit to Athens in a four-bed room. We received a fantastic welcome; the rooftop terrace is great, and the location is excellent too. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, friendly, and affordable place!
Everything else at the stay was great, it was a nice facility and the staff was extremely helpful and welcoming, but it seems that there were some bugs or bed bugs in our room. I had an incredible number of bites on my leg that ended up swelling up and bruising, and the bite marks were consistent with the visuals of bed bug bites (clustered, small, and appeared after our first night). The friend that I was traveling with also had a number of the same marks all over her arms and back, which is why I’m concerned with either the presence of bed bugs or cleanliness of the sheets.
I absolutely loved my stay here it was perfect for what I needed one. The staff were great very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was very nice! Plenty of space to chill with others but also have places to be by yourself which I liked. The pool area and outside seating was gorgeous, loved that! Overall I had a wonderful experience!
We chose this hostel because of its high rating on Hostel World but the experience turned out to be absolutely unpleasant. The first morning, I woke up with a dead moth next to my pillow, which another one of the suitemates had to clean after for me. The second morning, my friend and I who stayed in the same room both woke up with bumps and bites all over our body, which made us assume that it must have been bed bugs. I do not appreciate this at all and would like to submit a request for refund as well.
I am 65. My wife and I had a double room. Our 2 adult children and 1 of their partners shared a 4 bed room. It was really great! Clean rooms; comfortable beds; friendly staff; central location; delish breakfast. And……as it was a Saturday there was a party on the roof with views of the Parthenon
The hostel was really well located near the center and the train station. Free pasta was made every day between 7 and 8 pm. But the quantity was not enough for everybody (despite two services). The beds came with curtains for privacy.
The hostel has a pool on the rooftop, don’t forget to bring a swimsuit 😉

For the price I paid it was the cleanest and private hostel while also being perfect for meeting people
I stayed in a 4 bedroom for girlies only and we had our own bathroom, i’ve never seen something so private for so affordable
the location was insane
they have an amazing rooftop
just be aware that they might be doing some night and it could get a bit loud but i slept totally fine
had a really great stay at YellowSquare Rome! The hostel is very clean and the location is excellent, making it easy to explore Rome. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
I especially enjoyed the atmosphere and the evenings at the bar. There’s always good energy, music, activities, and plenty of opportunities to meet new people. The free pasta and free drink between 6 and 8 PM is also a really nice touch!
The community and social atmosphere were probably my favorite part — it’s very easy to meet travelers from all over the world and have a good time together.
Definitely a great place to stay in Rome, especially if you’re traveling solo and want to meet people. I would happily stay here again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The place is great and rooms are cleaned. The all female dorm is really cozy and I enjoyed my stay in Milan. The balcony outside was amazing! I liked that feature of my room the most!
Good people and a comfortable space.. perfect location
The hostel balances a social vibe with a very chilled-out space so I think it suits any type of traveler. Spaces were super clean and the rooms and bunks were very comfortable with reading lights and curtains. The free pasta and oil in the kitchen was a great touch too. I feel like the kitchen could have been slightly more equipped though. Overall would totally recommend this hostel!

I loved my stay, particularly the little events throughout the week which allowed us to meet people easily. I also loved the pool!!
It was a great place to stay. And there were great options for vibes/food/meeting people.
I just struggled when people entered into the room in early hours of the morning and when other guests decide to pack at 2am in the morning vacuum packing their plastic bags.
I know that is very difficult to control.
I think perhaps during the checkin process, there could be a quick questionnaire on the type of visitor you might be. And if possible match those to specific dorms.
For example:
A- I like to party and will be in the room late
B – I like to meet people but enjoy going to bed at a reasonable time
C- Please can I have a room as calm as possible.
Honestly the best! I wouldn’t choose any other accommodation whenever I come to Athens. It is my first visit to Athens and I couldn’t be more happier than finding Yellowsquare Athens. Everything was smoothly handled, the check in and welcoming faces were perfect, very helpful. I got upgraded instantly without even asking for it which is nice and the perfect to Yellowsquare. The beds were clean and spotless, with daily cleaning service provided. The coffee and the breakfast were fantastic too specially the cappuccino is my favourite coffee to start the day with chocolate croissant. The top roof has the best view for acropolis too. The location is also perfect close to all the main sites and markets. With a daily 17k steps around Athens, Yellowsquare is the perfect place to rest in the night with good sleep. Call it 10/10 or 5 star hostel/hotel.
Yellow square was a really lovely hostel! It was easy to make friends:) I got a tattoo there at their tattoo shop and spent a lot of time in yellow bar too. The free pasta was helpful also 🩷 I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend it xx
